Today we observe the yarn store owner in her natural habitat.

There is deep thinking, but also, significant procrastination.

We shall revisit this creature over the coming weeks, and see how their habits shift over time. Or will they?

Sock knitting is one of the greatest skills you can learn as a knitter. They make fantastic gifts, are super comfy to wear and let you embrace wild colours that you may not otherwise wear.

We have a Learn to Knit Socks class this Saturday - join the sock knitting fan club before our Socktober KAL this year!

Book online or in-store, class is:
Saturday 12 September
10:30am - 1pm
1 Waiwhetu Road, Lower Hutt.

Recommended for confident beginner knitters - you need to be able to cast on, knit and purl with confidence.

It's September and there's plenty on at the shop!

We have three social sessions every week, a couple of free meet-ups a month and Tash has managed to squeeze in a sock class for September too. With Socktober coming up September is an excellent month to learn how to make socks.

HRYC is all about being social and bringing the community together. Introverts welcome - the rest of us chat enough for the quiet ones among you! (Don't worry, we're pretty good at containing the chaos, too)

Ooooh a night out with crafty friends? Say yes!

Lights up Knitting is back on Tuesday 22 September, this time we're watching Practical Magic 2.

What treats should we get for this one? I'm trying to think of something tasty but a bit witchy 🤔

Every ticket goes in the draw for our fantastic spot prizes, and the lights stay up so you can see your project. Non-crafters are also most welcome to join us!

Book online or in-store 🎬🍿

What's on your bobbins?

It's Spinning Sunday this weekend, where some of us get our only chance each month to sit and spin! BYO wheel or spindle and spin with company from 12pm - 2pm on Sunday 30 August.

It isn't a teaching time but people are always happy to help troubleshoot or give gentle advice if needed.

If you'd like to borrow a wheel, we do have a couple available, but this needs to be organised in advance.

Feeling shy? Come along anyway! You can talk as much or as little as you like.

Curious about our Intro to Intarsia class?

We still have spots left to this fun class which is really painting with yarn. If you can knit and purl, you can give intarsia a go - and open up a whole new world of design options.

No longer the realm of garish 80s sweaters (although we do have a soft spot for them...), intarsia is making a comeback as a way to play with colour in a more abstract and organic way.

Join us on Saturday 29 August from 10:30am - 12:30pm at the shop for this class - book online or in-store!
