Every few years, a design trend gets so overused that it becomes wallpaper.
Japandi is at risk of becoming exactly that.
But here is the thing. Behind the buzzword is something genuinely worth understanding. Japandi and its philosophical cousin, Wabi-Sabi, are not really about a look. They are about a way of choosing things for your home.
When I first encountered these ideas in the sourcing work I do for Republic Home, I realised they answered a question my customers ask me constantly: "How do I make my home feel calm, curated, and personal without it looking like a showroom?"
