Your water pressure shouldn't be dropping for no reason. Here's what might be causing it.

Low water pressure at home is frustrating, and it's usually a sign of something that needs attention.

Common causes could be:
🔧 A partially closed main shutoff valve
🔧 Corroded or scaled pipes reducing flow
🔧 A failing pressure reducing valve (PRV)
🔧 A small leak somewhere in the system using up pressure
🔧 Council-side supply issues (check with your local council first)

If it's not the council supply, it's worth getting a plumber to check. Low pressure can indicate a slow leak that causes long-term damage if left.

What does it actually mean to be a registered plumber in New Zealand and why does it matter who you hire?

In NZ, anyone doing plumbing, gasfitting, or drainlaying work must be licensed by the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board. Unlicensed work is illegal, can void your insurance, and creates serious safety and liability risks.

Every tradesperson at BOP Plumbing & Gas is fully licensed and registered. We don't cut corners on compliance, quality, or safety.

Think you can smell gas? Don’t ignore it, as it could be more serious than you think. Here’s what to do.

🚫 Do NOT turn any switches on or off
🚫 Do NOT use your phone inside the building
🚫 Do NOT light any flames
✅ Turn off the gas at the mains if safe to do so
✅ Open windows and doors
✅ Leave the building immediately
✅ Call us or 111 from outside
