The glue is dry on the reassembled broken pieces so it is time to think about putting everything back together in the strongest way possible.

We've also had a good look at the base and the other the legs, brackets and joints on the stool. It would seem that this is not the first time that the legs have been repaired and some of these may not even be the original legs to the stool. The three other legs look fairly well attached, both glued and screwed on, but you can see areas where the veneer on the base is missing, which suggests something was previously glued on to this piece of wood and removed.

After carefully inspecting the broken leg, removing old staples and adhesive, and finding as many of the pieces as possible, it is time to complete a 3D jigsaw and glue the pieces back together as best we can. There are a few small bits missing, but modern glues are very good and should give this enough strength for us to reattach it.

New year, new project. We've been asked to repair a piano stool. A leg has broken off. We need to assess the stool, leg and break first before we can proceed.
