Thought I'd show how the alterations to the Apron pattern changed it. The blue apron is the original pattern I used for my own apron in the workshop.the red one is being altered as it'll be used while Blacksmithing, so its covering more areas that get hit by sparks, and while going further down the legs has a split to allow for movement etc.

After a test fit during the week and a few last changes the Apron is being cut out now. The straps will be cut last as I'll make them to suit the wearer. You can see the shiny silver coloured hardware and the nice red colour of the leather here.

Back in the workshop with a somewhat over due project, but hey I get to relax drawing lines and playing with paper today. This is going to be an apron (I know it looks like a spaceship plan!) But its being changed with some custom alterations as its going to be used whole blacksmithing. So it's longer and wider, and I'll need to change how it sits over the shoulders next. Also no pockets! Cos its decidedly "not good" to have embers or sparks go in a pocket and start a fire.

The finished product! I finished it just after 9pm last night, so I met the deadline! I enjoyed making it and seeing the finished item. Will I put everything under a tight deadline like that? No, but i think actively finishing it was the key, rather than some of my other projects which are 'a bit here, a bit there' kinda progress. Posted pics on the discord for the competition too, so we'll see how it does there!

Progress! This was last night's work. I finished about 9.30 so figured it was a bit late to post. The "spine" of the pouch has been antiqued, and I cut out the side panels. Tonight is sewing and final photos to take!

So its been a while. I've been struggling with that little voice everyone gets with their hobbies and creations telling me to stop leatherworking, why do I do it etc. So I decided to do a little challenge a pattern maker I follow issued ( ). I have to make their pouch pattern before the end of the month. Yes that's in 2 days! The fact they issued the challenge at the start of the month is entirely unrelated :p . This is also a pouch I made way back in my early days, they've updated the pattern a little but still the same. I did all the tooling tonight, antique it and cut out the sides tomorrow, and sew it up on the last day. The pattern maker also does a competition for this on their discord so I'll put pictures up for that too.

I swear there's differences between the three coronet pictures. Also theres more yellow in the Elven Helmet picture. Also hi, I remembered to post updates!

For the Coronet, the differences are picture 1 the dye is still wet and just done. Picture 2 the dye has had time to dry and lighten up
Picture 3 I've put some neatsfoot oil on the leather to soften it up, as the dye dries it out a bit, this will dry and also lighten it up again before I put a sealant/top coat on it in the next few days. The Elven helmet has had a little bit more painting done, its a long term "this looks cool project" like the satchel. Thats my excuse anyway.

Making a coronet for a commission. This is a fun project, all the stamps for this have been 3d printed by a friend of mine. It's going to be dyed blue and have the edge burnishing done etc before I seal it and put the cord/lace in to leave it adjustable.

Welcome to 2026!! The procrastination project gets some progress! There's 5 layers of three paint colours to get the gold colour I wanted, I'm thinking painting gold might replace knotwork as the "I'm not doing this again" part of projects haha.

This eleven helmet is my procrastination project. Any of my fellow crafty peeps will know what I mean. I know logically the steps I need to do to finish it, but any time I decide to do a little bit on it in between other stuff, I just blank and don't know where to start. So I procrastinate and clean the workbench or go look stuff up on my phone XD.
