Capiz shell is naturally translucent, with a soft, pearled shine that changes with the light around it.

At Tumandok, this is one of the materials we have worked with the longest. Carefully treated and shaped, it becomes trophies, trays, coasters, and wall pieces for the home — the same craft we are bringing to Bútlak this year.

We'll be sharing more of the collection all month, leading up to the 40th Negros Trade Fair on September 22 -27.

Follow along as we get ready for Bútlak.

Tumandok Crafts Industries is joining Bútlak: The 40th Negros Trade Fair

Our work began in Negros Occidental in 1988. This September, we are bringing a selection of houseware and décor shaped from capiz shell and other natural materials to SM Aura in Taguig City.

Bútlak means the rising sun in Hiligaynon. For Tumandok, it is a welcome moment to share work that has continued through changing seasons, changing spaces, and almost four decades of making.

From Coco Shell and Twigs to Everyday Pieces: Tumandok at the Negros Coco Expo

BACOLOD CITY, August 28, 2026 — The 4th Negros Coco Expo is underway at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Capitol Central, bringing together coconut farmers, processors, entrepreneurs, government partners, and visitors during the 40th Coconut Week celebration.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry–Negros Occidental with partner agencies, the five-day expo runs from August 26 to 30 under the theme, “One Province, One Vision: Regenerating the Coconut Industry Together.” The event features 29 coconut-based exhibitors presenting food, wellness, personal-care, and craft products made in Negros Occidental.

Visitors can explore a broad range of coconut products, including virgin coconut oil, coco sugar, snacks, personal-care items, and pieces made from coconut shell. The expo also includes learning sessions and a Financing Forum, which brings together financial institutions, cooperatives, and enterprises to share information on available financing options and business support.

For Tumandok Crafts Industries, the expo reflects a simple belief: materials found in our local surroundings deserve time, skill, and thoughtful use. Through coco shell and twigs, Tumandok creates wall décor, homeware, and gift pieces that carry the natural character of the material into everyday spaces.

Each piece begins with the marks, grain, and texture already present in the shell or twig. The work is to shape these materials with care and give them a useful place in homes, cafés, stores, and gift-giving.

Tumandok Crafts Industries extends its appreciation to DTI Negros Occidental, its partner agencies, and fellow exhibitors for making space for local products and the people behind them. The 4th Negros Coco Expo continues until August 30 at Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod City.

CARABAO PEDESTAL LAMP

The Carabao Pedestal Table Lamp is a stunning tribute to Filipino heritage. A majestic bronze Carabao is beautifully lit from below, creating a striking silhouette against the warm glow of the Capiz gold. The sugarcane pedestal base pays homage to the carabao’s vital role in the Philippine agriculture, plowing fields, and harvesting sugarcane in rugged terrains where modern machinery can’t reach. This unique piece combine strength and elegance making it conversation starter in a room.
