Plywood, in contrast, provides natural warmth and texture, perfect for furniture, cabinets, and interior detailing, but is more vulnerable to moisture and pests. A ceiling system using fiber cement boards is a suspended structure composed of a metal framework and finishing panels. The system starts with the installation of wall angles along the perimeter to provide edge support and proper alignment. Carrying channels are then suspended from the slab or roof structure, serving as the main support that carries the weight of the ceiling. Metal furring channels are attached perpendicular to the carrying channels, forming a grid where the fiber cement boards are securely fastened. The fiber cement boards act as the visible ceiling surface, known for their durability, moisture resistance, and fire resistance. Proper spacing, leveling, and secure connections are essential to ensure a strong, even, and long-lasting ceiling installation.

📝Additional tips:
Always double-check alignment using a level before installing the boards and leave small expansion gaps between panels to prevent cracking over time. Different finishes can be applied to fiber cement boards depending on the desired look, such as flat latex paint for a clean modern finish, textured paint for added design, skim coating for a smooth surface, PVC panels for decorative covering, or wood veneer and laminates for a more premium appearance.
