Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
And my God will meet ALL your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ (Phil 4:19).
These are two scriptures, one with instruction and both with guaranteed promise. Notice that the word says ALL not some? God is fully committed to us yet us, fail on one simple instruction from Him. That is to trust with ALL of our being.
How easy for us to do it, when He becomes our last resort. In our trials and sufferings, usually that is when we start acknowledging Him. But if we will just be honest with ourselves, is it the same way when all is good in our lives? Do we still offer our thanksgiving and behold Him as our King when we get what we have prayed for? Do we pray without ceasing, when all is presently well?
Our Heavenly Father is a good father. His character does not speak about Him desiring misery for us. As the scripture tells us, “If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him (Luke 11:13).”
But this is just a part of why He created us. He is after a real relationship, not because He needs us, but because His love is unfathomably greatest.
Then crises come in our lives of which we ask, “Where are you God when I needed you most?” Forgetting the love for us displayed on the cross, when He sent His Son to die on our behalf, for us to be reconciled to Him. I believe, that the true measure of unconditional love is when you are up to do the unimaginable sacrifice, without asking back. Because when you love, you just give. What proof of love do we need? Is anything more painful than sacrificing your own Son? Will any love be greater than that?
We are living in a broken world. Suffering comes here and there. It is not a good thing for sure, yet God, who is still seated in His Holy throne, can bring good things out of it. And we can only hope that something better will come, when we know and trust His heart. He tells us, “I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not evil” (Jeremiah 29:11). Yes, He knows and He is in control and He will never be unsure of how He is going to take care of His children. His children who profess their trust in Him, not just in bad days but in ALL days, good included.
My prayer for today, is may we be reminded that amidst all these things, the one that we will seek, the one that will matter, and the one that truly will remain unshakeable is Him.
“Do not be afraid.. I am your shield, your very great reward” (Gen. 15:1).
