In Between Roles: How Anne Labesores Shapes Experience into Form

Anne Labesores speaks about art in a way that feels less like a career choice and more like something she simply grew into. “Creativity was part of everyday life,” she says, recalling a childhood shaped by her grandparents’ home—filled with clay, wood, and the quiet rhythm of making. It wasn’t formal. It was instinctive. And somehow, that stayed.
Her life now holds a kind of contrast that could easily feel divided, but doesn’t. As a pilot, she works within structure, precision, and control. At home, she moves through softness—motherhood, care, and presence. “That duality appears in my work,” she explains, and you can see it. Geometric, almost mechanical forms sit beside organic, nurturing imagery. It’s not about choosing one over the other. It’s about letting both exist.
She doesn’t begin with a concept. “I begin with a memory—often something quiet and personal.” From there, she breaks things down into shapes, then slowly rebuilds them. Layer by layer. It’s a process that feels both intentional and intuitive, like she’s trying to understand something as she creates it.
Her themes are consistent, but never repetitive. “Motherhood, presence, protection, and balance.” Not the loud versions of these ideas, but the quieter ones. The kind that live in everyday moments.
Over time, her work has become more structured, more deliberate. She brings in contemporary, almost cubist elements, but never loses warmth. That balance matters to her.
When asked about creative blocks, her answer is simple. “I return to where it started—slowing down.” No forcing, no overthinking. Just stepping back into life.
And maybe that’s the core of her work too. “I hope viewers find beauty in the ordinary,” she says. “That strength can be gentle.”
