A growing learning community in BGC,
The Learner's Grove Educare Center opened its doors in June 2024.

Meet Teacher Erika, Teacher Kath, Teacher Ehya, and Teacher Shane, four founders brought together by their experiences, professional backgrounds, and shared heart and passion for children. 💛

Even their name carries their vision. A grove is a group of trees growing together. In the same way, they hope to nurture little learners as they learn, grow, and flourish. 🌳

We started by simply looking at each other through both ends of the pipe. 👀

Then suddenly, instead of showing me his eyes,
he used his mouth and made a sound through it.

And just like that, the play changed.
The pipe became a speaker.
Then a listening tube.

One of us would make a sound on one end while the other placed an ear on the other side. 🎶

No instructions.
No planned activity.
Just curiosity leading the way.

Did you know that playfulness and intentionality can beautifully exist together?

I get to work alongside teachers who know when to join the play, when to observe, when to guide, and when to simply give children the space to discover on their own.

Their joy is genuine.
Their presence is intentional.
Their respect for children can be seen in the little things they do every day.

That is why I find myself smiling a lot during my practicum. 💛

Grateful to be at Playworks.

There is so much to learn from teachers who genuinely love what they do.

Attended Classroom Beyond Borders 2026: Lead Beyond Today and came home with one strong reminder:

Change is constant.

As an educator and coach,
I must keep building the capacity to adapt, innovate, and grow while continuing to perform well.

Every new role, responsibility, and challenge becomes a chance to improve how I lead, teach, create, and collaborate.

For me, growth means becoming more capable, more sustainable, and more adaptable
while staying grounded in the kind of educator and coach
I want to be.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone and experience Emotional C.P.R. together!

For our final session, I wanted the teachers to see themselves beyond their roles in the classroom, to recognize that they are leaders, too.

We looked back at what inspired them to become teachers, explored how our understanding of leadership has changed, and reflected on what it means to lead with courage through the choices we make, the way we show up, and how we work with others.

Inspired by Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead, we reflected on the armor that can sometimes hold us back and the courage it takes to be vulnerable, live our values, build trust, and learn to rise.

We ended by bringing it all back to The Learner's Grove Educare Center
The culture they create together, the purpose that connects them, and the unique strengths each teacher contributes.

And through our personal mosaics, we celebrated the many little pieces that make each of us who we are.
