Chinese Chicken Manchurian:
Ingredients
For the Chicken Balls:
500g boneless chicken, finely minced
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum (bell pepper)
1/4 cup finely chopped spring onions
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For the Manchurian Sauce:
3 tbsp oil
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece ginger, minced
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
2-3 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp chili sauce (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp cornflour mixed in 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
Salt and pepper to taste
Spring onions for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken Balls:
In a large bowl, combine minced chicken, chopped onions, capsicum, spring onions, bread crumbs, egg, soy sauce, ginger-garlic paste, black pepper, and salt.
Mix well and shape into small balls.
2. Fry the Chicken Balls:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Fry the chicken balls in batches until golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
3. Make the Sauce:
In a separate pan, heat 3 tbsp oil.
Add minced garlic and ginger; sauté until fragrant.
Add chopped onions and capsicum; stir-fry for a few minutes.
Add green chilies, soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Add the cornflour slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
4. Combine:
Add the fried chicken balls to the sauce and toss to coat them evenly.
5. Serve:
Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot with fried rice or noodles.
