How much of a sculpture exists in the space between the object and ourselves?

During my time in London, I visited Anish Kapoor’s exhibition at the Hayward Gallery.

Mirrored steel folds the room into unfamiliar shapes. Black surfaces withhold the clues we rely on to understand depth. Monumental red forms press against the architecture, making us conscious of our own scale.

Born in Mumbai and based in London, Kapoor has spent decades exploring the uncertain boundary between matter and void. Here, even the most physical objects can make us question what we are seeing.

I find a connection here with neuroaesthetics and its questions about perception, emotion and aesthetic experience. How does an encounter with a form become a feeling? What happens when our eyes cannot quite resolve what stands before us?

These questions feel close to my own practice. The choice of a material, the curve of an edge, the way a surface receives light. Each shapes the encounter between an object and the person beside it.

This weekend marks the final two days of the exhibition. If you’re in London, make time for it.

Emerald Credenza. The forest finds another form.

Glass holds the light. Bronze lends warmth. Hand-carved surfaces invite the eye to wander and the hand to follow.

An object that reveals itself through closeness.

The first day at PAD London, and the pleasure of seeing my work become part of a wider conversation.

The Collectors’ Opening brought encounters with collectors, gallery owners, designers and the press. A day of exchanging ideas, discovering unexpected connections and meeting people whose worlds briefly became part of mine.

Sharing this moment with Mia Karlova Galerie made it all the more meaningful. Thank you, Mia, for your belief in my work and for bringing it into such thoughtful company.

A few moments from a day I will remember.

I’m drawn to the moment when sea foam begins to disappear, leaving small openings, delicate edges, a shape that will never quite repeat itself.

With the Sea Foam Table, I wanted to give that fleeting texture a lasting presence in wood. Its smooth surface gives way to an intricate landscape of hollows and folds, inviting the hand to follow where the eye has wandered.

A little of the sea, brought indoors.

This is an invitation to spend a little time with the objects, and the stories they hold. To follow a curve, notice a reflection, see how a surface changes as you move around it.

One last goodbye before London.

A moment with my Pearl Table before it leaves for PAD. I know its surface by heart, yet I’m curious to see it through unfamiliar eyes.

There is something quite personal about letting a piece go. You send it out into the world with so much of yourself in it, and leave room for someone else to find their own story.

The Pearl Table will be on view at PAD London from 13–18 October.

Thousands of fragments of mother-of-pearl, inlaid by hand.
A quiet exercise in patience.

With Pearl Table, I was drawn to the way small pieces could follow a sculptural form, tracing its curves like a second skin. Each catches the light a little differently, shifting between ivory, blush and silver as you move around it.

So much time held in a surface. And still, the light never stays.
