My name is Petya- a Bulgarian-Swedish self-taught artist, creating abstract vibrant and often textural paintings in oils, acrylics or soft pastels. My art journey started with private lessons in oils at the age of 26 in Sofia,

Bulgaria, where I'm born and raised. In 2017, I've taken classes in acrylics in Australia; in 2023 in soft pastels. My first exhibition was in Malmö Gamla Stan in 2016. I work on my skills regularly, take commissions and participate in local exhibitions. My inspiration comes from the variety in nature, moments of love & care, freedom etc. In my creative process, I paint with fingers, use unconventional tools as well as a palette knife; experiment to get the effect I am after. I work intuitively by letting the colors and forms lead, or I start with a specific idea that I let it evolve in my process.

Idag har jag varit med på en trevlig och lärorik föreläsning av Sara Rosengren om konst och skapandet. Den tog plats under tiden vi var på vår grupputställning på Caroli..

Det är aldrig samma som när man ser en konstverk på plats i rätt dimension och ljus, men ändå, här får man en idee hur varierande skapandet är i denna gruppen och på denna utställningen:)

Nu är det öppet för alla att njuta av. Våga meddela tankar på plats.

Vilken kväll:)! Vi hade vernissage på Caroli där man fick konstnärerna dela på sina tankar kring skapandet, lära känna varandra och njuta av konsten.

Not bad for a lunch break stroll today;)! Inspiration comes from moments like that... Unexpected short moments, when we take a break from sth else.

Do I need a selfie-stick for that? Some reflections got in... How many heart-outlines can you find in this painting;)?

It's called "A conversation", 60x40 cm artwork, acrylics on watercolor paper, framed in wooden frame 50x70 cm in size, done by Petya Tz /P. Hanson.

It is inspired by that feeling of sharing with each other, when you feel heard, understood and melted into the other person and no more words are needed for a while in the quiet. That moment of being. As siple as that. Healthy, isn't it:)? That feeling led to the forms that appeared first as a charcoal sketch and colors got mixed to match and interact creating an aura around the composition. Some floral elements appeared because I love nature and they showed up spontaneously to frame the composition and complete it.

It almost took a year from the idea to frame it... Happy to see it done!

Ever since we were in Florence and visited the iris garden there, I've been thinking I should plant some iris in my garden... Well, I've painted it before I planted it;) Sort of manifesting it till it takes place and starts growing;) hihi... The time will come some day to plant it properly. I almost got some bulbs on the day I bought frames.

Managed to frame a few pieces today... It does take lots of time, but it does look better and more finished, doesn't it?

- measure the painting, order the frame, collect the tailor made inner passepartout, dust off, attach with acid free tape, put the frame together... Prior to that, if needed, finish off the artwork details such as move the signature, add more colour to some corner edges to fit perfectly in the frame... Dust of again. Yes, it was more than an hour per piece once all parts were in place... Lots of learning.

Happy 2026! My next exhibition will be 8-14 May 2026, Caroli, Malmö. Just realised it's a group one, so we will see how much space is planned per person, but still fun to be in.

The art groups become quite popular and new art groups get started in 2025/2026!

- work with mixed media, photo, acrylics, akvarell/watercolor, oils or sculpture (3D)
