Hello!

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR to all who celebrate! 🍊🍊

Just thought I drop a hi on this silent account and to update those who are curious/ new followers or just have forgotten that I am actually NOT actively pouring concrete now cos I am back at working with children. BUT! I am keeping this account open cos who knows one day I may be back? πŸ˜† and I am still open to custom orders!

Anyway! I am keeping this account as a channel where I share and seek ideas and inspiration. Afterall, I did work hard to get going.

The first pic is my favourite and one of my first concretework and I am still really proud of it! It is 5+ years old! 2nd pic was taken when it was first used as a pot.

The other pics are just other experiments I am trying out with these busy hands of mine, including embroidery and drawing. Who knows one day.. perhaps.. maybe.. there will be a something_sewn or something_drawn?

To those who celebrate, Happy Easter! 🐰πŸ₯š

This is the last of this series of posts which documents my current concrete stock - my landscape trays which I am super proud of! I love painting with concrete and hope I can find new inspirations to create new concrete landscapes!

Anyway, I have consolidated these posts in the highlights so that anyone interested can find them with much ease. I'm terrible at catalogue-ing my works... it is something which should have been done long long ago. But I never got to it cos I'm lazy and thought the grid makes a good enough showcase.

It isn't easy being an artist/crafter in Singapore. Booth rental, retail costs are crazy high here, not to mention the time spent preparing, setting up and manning the booth at markets. That is why I did not have much pop-up previously when I was actively doing this concrete venture I have. Before you set up a booth, your costs is already sky high, then we have the opportunity costs like precious family time plus it is not guaranteed that you would even sell a piece of your work! Of course, being out at markets helps to bring my brand to people and reach out. But really, for me, the opportunity costs outweigh its effectiveness.

Now, I understand what fellow crafters/small biz owners mean when they said I was brave to be doing my concrete biz when my children are so 'little'. My priority remains with them, and in the SG climate, it is impossible to do this craft biz full-time in the long run... at least in my perspective. I envy those who can take their crafts to successful paths, but it didn't happen for

I take it as a good adventure, a journey that brings me to meet many people from many places, even across the world. I enjoy the dialogue and exchange with like-minded crafters and simply watching them do their crafts.

That's a lot from me on a Sunday night...shall sign off here. Take care, everyone!

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

It was a bit of a chaotic early start for us at home cos no.2 fell sick on the day no.3 had a school run event on Thursday. I went for my girl's school event while my hub got to apply leave as well to take the boy to the doc.
And that was why my intended Thursday's post was delayed till today when everyone is more well rested.

Pictured:

2 oblong trays - one with mirror chips, the other in blue glass chips.

Big or small, they make great accessories trays.
DM if you like them :)

Wacky Wednesday πŸ€ͺ

One of the children in school brought this book by Dr. Seuss to share with his friends. EC friends definitely know the author and probably the book as well. It is a fun read. The children enjoyed the wacky content. I have the same book in my home library, my kids love the book too.

Back to 'business', so now that I am back to teach, what is going to happen to !?

It is here to stay! I'm not about to close this account, and I hope I will not. Because this is a special personal space for me to play, explore and experiment. I get to make things, hone my crafting skills, and present my perspectives through concrete.

I shall keep pouring concrete as a hobby, a passion. I hope to create more new fun pieces! And yes, custom orders are welcome anytime! Just bear with me in production cos there is only 1 of me. It definitely helps if you can send in your order early 😬

Oh I almost forgot about the pictured concrete works... Stationery holder, accessory trays, coaster and namecard holder ... in the basic colours of concrete - grey and white. 🩢🀍

All these are current stock, just DM for purchase :)

Next one up!

This is a chapalang mix of styles and items - from the left: tiny stationery holder > pink/white table planter with mirror chips > cracked effect grey/white planter > tealight holder

Continuing from yesterday's post, I thought I'll chatter on why I decided to go back to early childhood and what I have learnt/experienced being a crafter in SG. Not all in a post... but split among the rest of my intended posts for the week.

Why have I decided to go back into teaching? πŸ“šπŸ–πŸ–Œ

It is actually a try-out to see if I still fit into early childhood 12 years after I left the scene. The sector has changed a lot. I have been a SAHM since my first was born, I didn't know I'll stay home for my children for more than a decade. But life happens and I am very fortunate to be able to be there for my children since birth.

My family remains my top priority and I am thankful that my employer recognises that and Ok-ed a work arrangement that suits my schedule. Super thankful for that. Though each work day is tiring since I work with preschool children in the mornings and then my own kids when they come home. Each day is a fulfilling one. I certainly hope this can last for a little while more, while I still have the energy and passion. But nobody knows what lies ahead, so for now, cheers to Living life one day at a time! ❀️

Hello from me!!!

Yep, I've been MIA since end of 2024. Haven't been making concrete work actually. Cos I am now working with children - many call this teaching, but I would like to see it as a working and learning relationship with children as well as my fellow early childhood educators.

Well, anyway! I met with a few friends whom I haven't met for more than 10 years ago last Saturday. They are my coursemates in my early childhood course. We share with one another what we are/have been doing.. and of course is part of the talk. 🀭

Gifted my friends some of my makes and that also led to me digging out all my existing stock and have them photographed so that they do not just stay in storage, but at least get a place in my IG grid here. And hopefully, they catch some concrete attention and find new owners and homes! Thank you .kk for asking to see what I have!

So here is the first!
Made with love using wine and soju bottles which I cleaned and smashed up to create this green glass chips series.

And that's a wrap for 2024!

Brought our concrete-making workshop to our fam's year end party last Sunday!

The kids chose to make some cute concrete figures like dinos, cow and lego-men. Adults decided to challenge themselves with terrazzo sanding. Arm power on! All the pieces came out looking pretty 😍

Thank you to all my participants for your enthusiasm!

To a Healthy & Happy 2025, everyone! πŸ₯‚

Didn't think I'll be back at pouring concrete so soon!
But yes, I made some adorable, little pours today :)

Had an add-on order from the pop-up, which just happened! Well, cos I do not usually have many of the same item in stock. Guess my mini planters are really cool for gifting πŸ™ƒ and one of my dear girlfriends requested a turtle with stars 🌟 for herself.

Happy to be working with concrete as always!
