Depending on usage, bellies work well for small goods like wallets, where these natural characteristics can be easily avoided during cutting. Shoulder cuts come from a more consistent area of the hide, making them ideal for larger projects such as covers, bags, and bespoke small goods that require a cleaner, more uniform appearance.

Veg-tanned leather comes in different tempers too.
