Hey, I'm Brenton! I have been working for "the man" and looking for "what to do with my life" for as long as I can remember. One day in late 2013 and getting sick of it all, I took my friend's guitar, "hack" it and made my first upcycled guitar shelf. Somehow all that sawing, filing, sandpapering (is there such a word?) and craft work feels sooooo therapeutic. I was focus again, had something to l
ook forward to again, was calm again and felt free...again. And so this journey of doing "something else" besides my day job began. I cut up more guitars, experimented with wood image transfer, played around with Photoshop designs and brought in some pretty interesting posters and prints. This has provided me a little respite of sticking it to "the man". Though I am still not sure if this is "what I want to do with my life", it feels just about right for now :)
As with the below quote, you aren't just buying my works, you are buying me more time to do something I am passionate about. And for that, I thank you. "When you buy from an independent artist you are buying more than just a painting or a novel or a song. You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation and thousands of failures. You are buying days, weeks, months, years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You are buying nights of worry about paying the rent, having enough money to eat, having enough money to feed the children, the cats, the dogs. You aren't just buying a THING, you are buying a piece of heart, a part of soul, a private moment in someone's life. Most important you are buying that artist more time to do something they are truly passionate about: something that makes all of the above worth the fear and all the doubt: something that puts the life into the living."
