Design Decor Asia

Design Decor Asia Asia's one-stop directory and resource library for home and ID trends! Like they say, information should be at your fingertips and knowledge is indeed power!

Despite Singapore's fertile and sophisticated ID/home industry offering a diverse mix of products, services and retail choices, it still remains very fragmented. We understand that some clients do not know how to get the word out for their new products or services. More importantly, clients don't know how to reach out not only to consumers but also industry partners such as architects and interior

designers. DDA was formed by our passion to connect homeowners, clients and like-minded people in the ID/home industry on a singular, unified portal. DDA is a distinct portal, unlike any other in Asia, that will inform, connect and educate all and sundry, on the latest furniture launches, new products and services for the home, finding the right interior decorator or architect, or simply getting tips and tricks from the experts to make your life at home better. Magazines or print can only do so much, and we know for sure that through the pervasiveness of smartphones and tablets, news publicised on DDA can move a lot faster. Our portal’s broad, responsive reach will be an easy-to-use, interactive virtual space catering to a diverse customer base where every individual has unique ID/furniture requests and questions. Surf and stay up to date from the comfort of your home or visit our webpage via today's ubiquitous smartphone or iPad even if you're on the go.

The 162-year-old Robinson was liquidated in October 2020 and was formerly owned by the United Arab Emirates-based Al Futtaim Group was a sad moment in Singapore's history. But plans are afoot to revive it as a fully-fledged online department store in Singapore by 24 June. The new owners are Canningvale from Perth, Australia who have been making sheets, towels, and homewares since 1977. Canningvale Australia is a family-run business by the Prainito family, is set to refresh Robinsons as an e-commerce store through a multi-million dollar venture. Plans include a new e-commerce platform, an order and inventory management system, and a seller portal. The new Robinsons online experience will be curated to include nine or 10 global and local brands in each category and these include beauty, homewares, men, women, children's clothing, and technology. Unique to this e-commerce set-up is its hybrid drop-ship model with suppliers holding stock and picking and packing online orders while Canningvale will manage the last mile. Robinsons will be unique from its rivals such as Zalora and Lazada because its experience is curated rather than comprehensive. Its strategy is to be different than better. Well, we can't wait for what's in store at Robinsons online! Sign up now for early bird offers! For more details visit http://robinsons.com.sg

We were thrilled that we were extended an invite for Macsk showroom (63 Mohd Sultan Road) launch on 29 January 2015. A huge crowd of architects, interior designers and industry partners turned up to admire Molteni & C pieces, the stunning Lasvit lighting pieces, Carlo Moretti Venetian glass ware and much more. Dessert chef Janice Wong expertly created an edible "canvas" where guests participated by doodling a drawing with edible paint and colourful ingredients.

Hi furniture/lighting junkies! We took a long hiatus to re-group our thoughts and direction but trust us, we're back. We're committed to update you on the international design scene when it comes to all objects, furniture, lighting and accessories for your prized nest. First up is the Cologne fair 2015 and French designer Inga Sempe for Ligne Roset has our hearts beating! Her simple "Beau Fixe" armchair and ottoman may look like a simple piece but pry closer at the details and you'll realise that the upholstery is clamped by its black metal frame! Sempe opines, "The structure functions like a giant clamp which holds the one-piece quilt in the jaws formed from the main uprights." This ingenious seating system comes in the form of a two-seater sofa as well. The footstool is equally intriguing as it has two ends tucked under the leg brackets on either side, making it such a well-appointed piece for the home.

Milan Furniture Fair 2013: The 'cradle' lounge chair by London-based designer benjamin hubert combines a unique blend of two seating typologies – a net structured hammock and a conventional upholstered lounge chair. Conceived for Italian furniture company Moroso, the visual aesthetic purposefully
integrates architectural lines with a sharp rectilinear backrest that contrasts a softer seating area. ‘cradle’ utilises a custom-made CNC cut pattern that allows a non-elastic textile to stretch around a metal frame in a controlled three dimensional manner. This allows for the correct tension to comfortably support the body - visually and physically reducing the product’s weight and cost. DDA LOVES IT!
