Why do I mist my plants?
Not to raise humidity, though it does momentarily, many epiphytes benefit from a morning misting because for many in the dry season, morning dew condensation may be the only water source they receive, likewise for those growing in cloud forest. But that not why I mist my plants.
The primary reason is I try not to resort to using pesticides or chemicals on my plants that might help to rid of the pest but also harm beneficial insects.
Misting helps to clean the plants of settling dust, clears their stomatas but it also deters spider mites that thrive in warm & dry conditions.
Most important of all, it gives a much needed drink of water for my little friends that prey on minute pests like thrips, aphids and ants that farm scales/mealies.... its that humble often over looked ...tiny 🕷... I have always had these amongst my plants, even my indoor plants grown under LEDs have them.
I need to find out what species are they....
