Most built-ins don't fail because of the material or the design. They fail because they only got one light source, and it's the one on the ceiling.

That single downlight is why your own head casts a shadow on the mirror right when you're trying to see your face. It's why open shelves look cluttered instead of styled. It's why you're chopping vegetables in your own shadow, or digging through a wardrobe with your phone flashlight.

None of that gets fixed after the fact. Under-shelf strips, headboard lighting, under-cabinet task lights, they all have to be planned before the built-in goes up, not added later.

Swipe through for where each one actually goes.

Two flats. Same square footage. One feels twice as big.

We get asked about this a lot, and it's almost never about knocking down walls. It's about what your eye is allowed to see the moment you walk in.

A clear sightline to the window, furniture that sits low enough to show more wall and ceiling, one flooring material carried through instead of broken up room to room. None of it adds space. It just stops your eye from stopping.

That's the actual difference between a flat that feels tight and one that doesn't.

Swipe through to see how it plays out.

We used to think a calm home just meant less stuff in it.

Then we started paying attention to what actually makes a shelf feel overwhelming, and it's not the number of items. It's how many different materials, textures, and colors your eye has to sort through at once.

That's the whole logic behind every shelf we style. Fewer competing surfaces, more intentional gaps, and every object earning its spot.

Swipe through to see how we think about it.

Two flats with the same budget can look nothing alike once they're done.

We've noticed it's rarely the money that makes the difference. It's the handful of details most homeowners never think to ask for until they see them somewhere else.

Cove lighting instead of a flat ceiling line. Materials that share the same undertone instead of clashing. Storage that's actually sized for what you own, not just squeezed in.

None of it needs a bigger budget. It needs a plan before the shopping starts.

Inside a Bukit Batok home built on restraint. Modern contemporary luxury here means less, not more, with every material chosen to earn its place instead of filling space.

Marble look surfaces, mirror and glass that keep a small footprint feeling open, and custom carpentry that quietly absorbs daily clutter. Nothing shouts. Everything works.

This is what happens when every inch of a home gets planned on purpose.

Small home, every inch working harder. That was the brief for this Bukit Batok project.

We leaned on mirror and glass to push the walls back visually, a marble look surface that skips the real thing's upkeep, and a full run of custom carpentry so storage never fights for space with display.

Nothing here is loud. It just works.

People often assume a design studio only cares about how a space photographs. We do not work that way.

We keep coming back to the kitchen and the living room, not because they look good in photos, but because that is where a family actually slows down, cooks together, and spends real time in the same room.

The one thing we will not compromise on is material quality. Not the finish on top, the build underneath it. A home has to hold up for the people living in it, not just look good on handover day.

This unit was never about filling the space. It was about making every corner earn its place.

Stone look surfaces, mirror, and glass carry the whole look, bright, open, and quietly luxurious without needing more square footage. The real work sits in the carpentry, built entirely from scratch to turn a refurbished unit into something fully custom.

Every angle here was planned around light and flow. Nothing fighting for attention, storage built in and hidden, so what is actually on display gets to breathe.
Small footprint, big feel. That was the whole point.

A lot of what we design starts before the renovation even begins, in how furniture and space are meant to work together. That background in matching pieces to a finished space is not an afterthought for us, it is often where the design actually starts.

One space we always take seriously is the bathroom, because it is the one truly private space in a home. When that space feels beautiful and considered, it changes how the whole home feels to live in.

The one thing that never gets compromised is handover. What a client receives has to match what they were promised, no gap between the idea and the result. Everything starts with listening first, understanding how someone actually lives, their budget, their daily rhythm, before a single design decision gets made.

A lot of people think luxury means filling every corner of a room. We went the other way on this one.

The brief was modern contemporary, but with restraint. Stone look surfaces, mirror, glass. The stone gives you that marble feel without the maintenance headache. The mirror and glass keep the whole unit bright and open.

The real work was in the carpentry. The unit came refurbished, so the transformation had to happen in the built ins, the storage, the display walls. That is where a home actually becomes custom instead of just refurbished.

Small homes do not need more space. They need the space they have to work harder.
