It only costs 50,000ugx for a land search at lands. Ask with the neighbours and the local authorities about the credibility of the land. 2)BUDGETING. Making a budget within your means is worthwhile. Have some money% saved up. Ensure atleast 10% of the budget is available for other miscellenous incase the projected budget is exceeded. 3)SELECTING AN ARCHITECT. The architect will come up with the plan and design including the size, layout and special features incorporated in your house. With an architect you can establish what time frame the construction project will take to help you plan financially and mentally. 4)DETERMINING THE BUILDER TO USE. Cross check the credentials of the builder. Dig into their past work and evaluate the quality of their previous projects. Make sure the team of builders is upto the task and trustworthy. 5)AGREEMENTS AND CONTRACT. Read through agreements and contracts with builders, architects and suppliers before signing anything. Due deligence is important in this case. 6)COST CUTTING MEASURES. Have your plot connected to water and getting acquainted with the building regulations of the area will help avoid trouble during construction. Befriend the neighbours to inform you of whatever goes on on the site when you not around.
