I’m early stages here. So much of the background will be painted over with some areas visible through the layers. I really like to have an up close experience that’s interesting and draws the viewer in. I’ve been meaning to paint this swan planter that was my grandmother’s for a long time. The Queen Elizabeth tin is a new (old) find.

“Long Shadows” is on its way to Dallas. I so appreciate all of the sales last week. If you purchased one, they’re in the mail. The name for this painting came from both the literal shadows and the good thoughts of all of the past artists, my grandmothers, my mother and my sister and their affect on my creative journey. I’m grateful. Who has affected your life? I’d love to hear from you!

I’d forgotten I had a 24” floater frame to fit “Long Shadows.” It’s part of an ongoing table top series I have and an ode to favorite artists I grew up admiring and thoughts of my creative grandmothers and mother.

Naming paintings and painting edges today. The title of the yellow iris is for my mom. It reminded me of how she held herself. The tilt of her neck had an elegance.

“This Must be the Place” is part of the Firehorse exhibit Center For Contemporary Arts right now. Went to the opening reception and forgot to take pictures. Local friends, it’s a really fun group exhibit of CCA members if you get a chance, go see it in person. I often have Talking Head songs stuck in my head, thus the title.

Such a fun day! I picked flowers from our back yard and painted them before they died. Always a challenge to do it in one sitting. Hope you’re having a beautiful day too.

Surprised myself by using brown! Inspired by the color of the pages in an old children’s book. I don’t feel bad to scavenge from this book because it was mostly colored over by a previous artist😉

I’ve had this painting around a while and whenever that’s the case I can’t help but go back in and dabble some more. I don’t think I really improved it. Swipe to see the earlier version and a couple of scenes of the garden/ porch we’ve been working on.
