Memorial Day is usually the time my plants get moved outdoor. It’s been a tradition for as long as I remember. Over the years, as my plants have gotten bigger, the pots larger and heavier, it was feeling like a dreaded chore. Yesterday and today I spent some much needed time with my plants. I did some thinking…
If my plants 🌱 🪴 could talk …
1. We love sunshine 🌞 - you should too. Besides the vitamin D that you need, the sunshine radiated by family and friends and people around you helps you grow.
2. We need water - so do you. Stay hydrated, your body needs it.
3. Thank you for getting rid of the dead branches. It takes away from the energy that keeps me healthy. Same principle applies to the dead branches in your life. Snip away things that don’t bring you joy.
4. Patience is a must. For over 27 years (for many of my plants) you’ve taken care of me from when I was a seedling, watched me grow, flower, shed my leaves and go dormant. Even in my early years when I would not even produce a flower for years you kept watering me and waiting and watching. Now you get joy from hundreds of flowers I share with you every season. Same applies to life, it takes time to grow and produce. Your efforts are not wasted.
5. Lately you haven’t spent as much time working with me, looking at me, enjoying what I give. Life gets busy, I know, but the time you spent with me the last 2 days not only helped me, but gave you a piece of mind while you tended to the tasks, let you appreciate the moment and enjoy things that you used to really like. I remember in our early days, every Sunday morning you’d turn on devotional music and water and fertilize me, check out the new branches I may have sprouted and take time to appreciate the beautiful flowers. Let me ask you? Why don’t you do more of what you like? Ad life gets busy, we tend to give up doing things that we like. Don’t we all need to spend time on things that bring us pleasure?
