Long update as a lot have had questions or concerns brought to the city.
here’s my timeline of events that has lead to the building being cleared out receive the repairs needed. Please note that when I say “flood” in the timeline below, it is water less than an inch deep only on the north side of the building. However, it’s enough to ruin things, thankfully only mine😏
April & May - temporarily closed with intentions of being open here & there as I could as i dealt with personal family matters.
June 3rd - broke my foot & in a boot for the next 6 weeks.
June 24th - building floods, ceiling is dry. Advise all vendors we need to get our stuff out for now. Guess who’s stuff also needed packed up with a broken foot🙋🏼♀️
July 20th - building was flooded when I walked in in the AM, got it cleaned up juuuust in time for the 4pm hard north rain which flooded the building the worst. 😏BUT I was actually in the building this time to witness HOW🙌🏻
July 21st - concrete contractor comes out to assess foundation. Unfortunately, sealing the foundation on the north side will only last for so long until some sort of drainage system is put in next door. Hence how we’ve made it this long - shout out to Jon with that epoxy floor! Jeff from J&S & I have been in contact & are coming up with a plan to get the water drainage between our two buildings under control! 🫶🏻 we’ve both just have had the BEST luck since taking over these two buildings. 😏 and quite frankly, it’s exhausting.
Now, we’re on to figuring out Leak #2, which is the ceiling. Roof has been re sealed, twice now, which hasn’t seemed to help. Joey has camera all the pipes. Unfortunately with the amount of rain we’ve gotten, we now have to rip into the ceiling. Get up in between the ceiling & roof and see if there’s anything missing before I have to spend thousands on a new roof.
Why am I selling contents? Well, what else am I supposed to do with it so it doesn’t get ruined or in the way during repairs. Unfortunately, this is my “income” right now as well.
Insurance isn’t covering ANYTHING. Just so we’re clear I’m “not receiving some big pay out”. Far. Far. From.
I’m still going thru personal family matters & ask for privacy.
I’ve wanted to update but things were rapidly changing & having to make decisions I didn’t even know what would happen next.
I’ve tried my best. Between getting over 20+ businesses to provide more options to our little town, a place for kids to freely express themselves creatively almost monthly, many many donations to our school, going to daycares & classrooms to do a free craft with them, a place to host private events with the option of me doing everything needed so you just have to arrive. While also (trying) to maintain my own business of custom work.
If being closed for 4 months, entails you to go to the city to demand I pay back the City Development Forgivable loan as I haven’t hit 3 years yet, then I would also love for you to help box up this 2100sq ft building with your free time. Keep in mind, That is also something I worked with our city council to implement for ALL businesses & very much know how it works. I’m glad our vets office could utilize this year & get their much needed new roof. 🙌🏻
Also, please remember, I have two children. Both of which can retain what someone is saying. What you say in front of your children/grandchildren, doesn’t just stay there.
