Allow me to introduce myself 😃
I’m Emily the person behind Kindred StitchFolk
I am a mother,
Wife (my husband is literally the best),
Licensed Mental Health Counselor,
I have 5 wonderful siblings and parents that taught us the value of love, community, and kindness,
A 3rd generation Alaskan
A knitter for over 25 years,
And cross stitcher

I have tried most crafts including weaving, spinning, knitting, crochet, tatting, rug hooking, clay, painting, beading, paper crafts, machine sewing, hand sewing, paper piecing, and more

The two crafts that hold my heart are knitting and cross stitch.

7 months into building a business on a shoe string budget and no connections ….how is it all going???
So far I have
•built my business plan and revised it at least a dozen times over,
•done endless market and distributor research,
•set up wholesale accounts,
•sold on whatnot,
•built a world wide community that is growing daily, •started my YouTube channel,
•taught a class,
•met regularly with my small business association counselor,
•started telling my story…

With all this
I have doubted myself everyday
Learned a lot about the industry, but more importantly about myself.
And learned to be patient and trust myself.

🌿 Welcome to Kindred StitchFolk! 🌿

Hi friends! I’m Emily — lifelong Alaskan, fiber artist, LPC-S, mom, and the heart behind Kindred StitchFolk. I’m so excited to finally share this dream with you.

I’ve been knitting, crocheting, and stitching for over twenty years, and one thing has become beautifully clear through every project, every class, every retreat, and every conversation:
creating together brings people closer.
It heals, it grounds, it builds community, and it reminds us that even in a big state like Alaska, we’re never as far apart as we feel.

Kindred StitchFolk grew out of that belief — and out of my desire to bring high-quality, curated needlework supplies and warm, welcoming creative spaces to every part of Alaska. My vision is to build a mobile needlework shop that travels across the state, offering:

🧵 Curated cross stitch & embroidery kits
✨ Hand-dyed floss & fabrics
🪡 Patterns from national + local designers
🎨 Classes & workshops
🧶 Annual knitting & cross stitch retreats
🤝 A community where everyone feels seen, supported, and welcome

My husband is joining me in the adventure, and you’ll often see our sweet son Jimmy right beside us — our tiny mascot and biggest cheerleader.

I’ve already started teaching cross stitch classes at The Art Lounge and building community through Flosstube, Instagram, and our retreat group, AK Borealis Retreats Community. And now… it’s time to take the next big step.
