I wanted to practice putting up drywall, building cabinets, customizing built-in areas, and laying hardware floors, so I decided to give this all a shot in a space that needed some work but wasn’t super noticeable… So Bee’s Cat Room got an upgrade! We needed to better accommodate our family’s needs in there anyway, so it was a win/win.
One of the issues was the space, and how cramped and difficult to access the area underneath the stairs was… so I framed in that awkward corner and added a built-in litter box underneath with a walkway (yes… it, too, got hardwood floors).
The second Issue was order, and trash, so we built a pull-out trash can that looked like part of the paneling. I still have a few finishing touches to add.
And then I added a custom cat feeding station and a little cat play area with a wall of cat scratching pads
I added air vents for circulation, and he has a fun little fan for more air.
I also added some custom storage for dry cat food, trash bags, litter, an extra litter bin, toys, etc.
I want to do a mid-century theme, so I created a ledge to hide his water bowl and add a little decoration and style. I used spindles from an old table to create the separation.
I made him a bed out of a charcuterie board I made years ago and some bun feet.
I added a few more mid-century touches with some wood wall art I had in the house, some rugs, laid hardwood floors, updated the lighting… and, of course, ART.
I did the drywalling, and that was my least favorite part! 🥱🫣
I think it turned out really cute!
I added some before pictures, some during the process, and the final product! 🥰
Bee loves it! 😻😸😺
Up next… Master Bedroom Closet.
