Thank you, Stephen Poore, for inviting me into your church space and for Abernathy Bland interviewing me. I appreciate the chance to share how my work connects with my belief in God and how an ordinary table can teach a bigger lesson in grace, faith, community, and love.
And thank you to IBe Crawley for these wonderful, expressive photos of myself. Your attendance today solidified a prayer I have prayed for: a solid sisterhood in the art world. Your presence and the time you have spent with me have blessed me more than you will ever know.

Had a wonderful time at Library of Congress and being with such talented book artist Irene Chan Lyall Harris homie house press Sarah Matthews for our panel about our work. Thank you again to Elizabeth Ajunwa and Tia Blassingame and Stephanie Stillo for moderating and Susan Fisher for our introductions.
We had a packed house! It was nice to talk about my art and wow folks with my paper cuts!✂️
It was great being in the DMV. I miss the area so much!

I am excited to share that I went from being one of 5 talented women (Iren Chan Irene Chan, Lyall Harris Lyall Harris, Sarah Matthews , and Adriana Monsalve homie house press) to being selected as a finalist to represent nationally and internationally the Mid-Atlantic area for Women To Watch 2027: A Book Arts Revolution exhibition at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. Pages from my current book, The Heart of Our Home will be on display.
It took me a while to gauge how big this is. And truthfully, I still don't understand the full scoop of this honor. When I conducted my paper cut workshop at the museum last year, I wrote in the back of my notebook that I wanted to show work there in the future..little did I know, I would be!! God is good!
I want to thank NMWA liaison curator Elizabeth Ajunwa Elizabeth Ajunwa for nominating me and to Tia Blassingame Tia Blassingame, the guest curator and wonderful founder/ leader of the Book/Print Artist/Scholar of Color Collective, of which I am a member for selecting me.

Day 4 of Bound Together ✨

What a week it has been already. We can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of the Bound Together Program. We are having so much fun that the time has flown by.

Today was our second day at IBé Arts Institute, and as soon as we arrived, everyone jumped right back into assembling their books, combining images to create collages, adding text, and preparing their pages for final binding.

It was so rewarding to see students begin to realize the stories they have spent the week developing. They finished rough layouts and page mock-ups, incorporated their silhouettes inspired by Janelle Washington, and brought together photographs, text, collage, and letterpress elements into the pages of their books.

Mentors Janelle and Barb were there to offer guidance and creative advice as students worked, while Mayla and Rebecca worked with IBé to set the text for the letterpress. Meanwhile, Alex, who has been documenting the entire week, began conducting interviews with program leaders.

We were treated to a delicious lunch at Saucy’s BBQ, then closed out the day with a demonstration on how the letterpress works. Each student got a hands-on opportunity to run the press and print their very own book cover.

It has been such a joy to work together in this beautiful and inspiring space and to watch these stories come together. We will be sad to see the week come to a close tomorrow, but we are looking forward to celebrating the students’ accomplishments and the collective experience we have shared.
