One of my favorite parts of this project was designing a custom dining banquette for a client with a very limited footprint. Small spaces require thoughtful planning, and every single inch matters.
Rather than guessing what might fit, I created a scaled floor plan and a detailed 3D rendering so we could maximize seating, maintain comfortable clearances, and ensure the finished product would function beautifully in the space. The end result is a custom solution that feels intentional, spacious, and perfectly tailored to the home.
This is also why there is such a difference between working with a professional designer and relying solely on AI-generated images or ChatGPT for design inspiration.
AI can create beautiful concepts, but it doesn’t know your room dimensions, traffic flow, building constraints, furniture specifications, or local code requirements. It can’t accurately determine whether a banquette is too deep, if a table leaves enough room to pull out chairs, or if people can comfortably walk through the space.
As designers, we draw everything to scale using precise measurements. Every cabinet, bench, table, and walkway is carefully planned before construction begins.
Beautiful design is important. Beautiful design that fits, functions, and works in real life is even better.
That’s the value of professional design.
