When I imagined our future, I dreamed of being happy. Of being surrounded by love. Of traveling the world, just like Daddy. Of creating beautiful things with my hands, just like Mummy. Of doing something I loved, and perhaps having a child or two to share it all with.
That was my idea of a beautiful life.
And now, looking at you, I realize just how much of that little girl’s dream you’ve lived.
You’ve seen parts of the world we once only imagined. You’ve explored the creativity Mummy passed down to us. You’ve raised children, built things from nothing but ideas, and found the courage to follow your passions.
I know we’ve lost people we thought would be here to see it all. I know life has broken your heart in ways I couldn’t have imagined. And I know there are days when happiness still feels like something you’re chasing.
But look at you.
After everything, you still have so much love to give. You still find beauty in the smallest things. You still dream. You still create. You still find reasons to begin again.
And perhaps that’s what makes me proudest.
Not the things you’ve acquired, or the milestones you haven’t yet reached. But the fact that, despite everything life has asked of you, you’ve held on to so much of the girl I am.
The measure of success was never how much we amassed. It was always about how fully we lived, how deeply we loved, and whether we had the courage to become ourselves.
And if I could reach across all these years and tell you just one thing, it would be this:
I’M SO PROUD OF THE WOMAN YOU’VE BECOME.
You haven’t lived a perfect life. But you’ve lived a life I would have been excited to grow up into. 🤍
Love,
Your younger self.
