I'm sure some of you have been wondering what I've been up to since my workstudy at Arrowmont came to an end. Others have probably pieced together what I'm up to based on my random updates in my stories, both on my clay and personal accounts.
Well, after my workstudy came to an end, I spent about two weeks in ATL just chilling and resting from such a busy six weeks away from home. Then I turned right back around and returned to Arrowmont, this time as a seasonal employee working in the dining hall (like what I was doing for my work portion of the workstudy). Someone quit unexpectedly and I figured I could lend a helping hand and have a stable source of income for a little bit while the world does whatever is happening right now.
I'm now working and living on campus through the middle of November. Since returning to the dining hall I've made fire c***r and "cough syrup," gone to a pumpkin patch, enjoyed an artist talk/demo from this month's Smokey Mountain National Park Artist in Residence, attended a hat parade, watched an episode of the bear with my coworkers, made some stuff in the workstudy studio while there were no workstudies on campus, spent a good bit of time out in nature swimming, running, and chilling, made a trip back to ATL for Shaky Knees where I saw so many bands I've always wanted to see (and suffered the agony of having both Taking Back Sunday and The Prodigy's sets cancelled due to a storm ðŸ˜), made ANOTHER trip back to ATL for The Strut, watched a heavy piece of art get installed on campus, and have continued learning and practicing the drums with an electronic drum kit (thanks ATL_Polaroids | Atlanta Editorial), tho I do miss my lime green set that waits for me back at home.
I'm still popping up at markets in ATL here and there, but that's limited to about once a month for the time being. In some ways this feels like a good move as I can take more time to process the skills I gained while in workshops over the summer and play in clay more freely without the shadow of making a "product" for markets every single weekend looming over me all the time. I miss seeing y'all's beautiful faces and catching up with y'all tho!
Anyway, that's the update for now! 💖
