Some rooms hold more than books. 📚

They hold conversations, ideas, questions, and the quiet moments when we discover something that stays with us long after we’ve turned the last page.

The reading room has always been more than a place to sit. For generations, Black readers, writers, artists, and thinkers have gathered around books to learn from one another, imagine something different, and preserve the stories that might otherwise have been forgotten.

READING ROOM was created with that feeling in mind — worn pages, old libraries, afternoons spent lingering over a book, and the warmth of a room you never quite want to leave.

A little tribute to the places where stories are kept, shared, and made new again.

Y’all, this is why we collect. 🤎

The easy smiles. The arms around shoulders. Someone borrowing a hat, someone settling into the grass, everyone gathering beneath that beautiful old tree.

I keep looking at these photographs and wondering about the day. What brought everyone together? Who was behind the camera? What were they saying just before the shutter clicked?

We don’t always get the names or the stories with the photographs we find. But those little gestures of affection still come through, all these years later.

At LMCVintageGoods, we’re collectors first—and these everyday moments are what keep me searching for the next photograph.

Something new is coming to LMCVintageGoods! 📮

At nearly every market, someone asks us the same question: “Do you have postcards?”

Well, we’ve been listening!

Recently, we were asked to curate a special selection of vintage photographs for a book club reading Kin (which is an awesome novel, by the way!). It reminded us of something we’ve always loved about collecting photographs: the way an image can connect us to a story, a memory, or a moment in history.

So we’re turning some of our favorite images of everyday Black life into a collection of vintage photo postcards.

Think family, friendship, love, community, style, and all those beautiful little moments that make up our history.

Our new postcard paper just arrived from River, and we can’t wait to share what we’re putting together.

We’re collectors first. Always. 🤎

Long before LMCVintageGoods became a business, there was simply a love for old photographs.

And every now and then, I come across one that reminds me exactly why I started collecting in the first place.

This is one of our newest additions, and I absolutely love everything about it. Seven beautiful Black women, dressed to the nines, walking down the street like they own it. The clothes, the hats, the confidence, the smiles. Just look at them!

I find myself wondering who they were. Where were they headed? What were they laughing about? Were they friends, sisters, coworkers? I wish I knew.

That’s the thing about collecting old photographs. Sometimes you find a piece of history, and sometimes you find a moment that just makes you smile.

I may never know their names, but I’m so glad this little piece of their lives found its way into my collection.

Because before we ever sold a print, we were collectors. And that will always be at the heart of LMCVintageGoods. 🤎

Before there was LMCVintageGoods, there was a love for collecting old photographs and preserving the stories they tell.

Our latest addition to the collection is this incredible vintage photograph of seven beautifully dressed Black women walking together, full of confidence, style, and personality.

The fashion. The hats. The smiles. The way they seem completely at ease in their own moment. There is so much to love about this photograph.

We don’t always know their names or their stories, but we believe their everyday lives deserve to be seen, remembered, and celebrated.

That’s what collecting means to us. It’s not just about finding beautiful photographs. It’s about preserving pieces of our history that might otherwise be forgotten.

We’re collectors first. Sharing these treasures with you is simply an extension of that love. 🤎

The debate about how we present ourselves has popped up again, y’all! 👀

But whether you’re rocking a bonnet or stepping out in a suit and dress shoes, we love ❤️ y’all just the same here at LMCVintageGoods.

Style has always been a part of our culture, our history, and how we express ourselves. From Sunday best to everyday wear, there’s room for all of it.

Let’s not allow what we wear to divide us. Let’s celebrate the culture that brings us together. 🖤

OMG, we love this question. ✨🎞️
You guys ask us all the time how we saw our images. The truth is a mixture of private acquisition, publicly available originals, and the tireless archiving work at our federal foundations. Many of our private acquisitions are found in person through antique stores or purchased online.

Well, even more we’re entirely preserved by archives at the national archives. Found in the Library of Congress or even saved by librarians and specific college or federal public libraries. #
