One of My First—and Most Meaningful—Design Projects
Looking back at this room brings back such wonderful memories. This was one of my very first decorating projects, created for a dear client who trusted me with updating her daughter’s bedroom suite, as she transitioned from a little girl into a young lady.
What made this project so special was the trust I was given. My client allowed me to spread my wings creatively, explore my ideas, and truly be an artist in designing a room that reflected her daughter while still creating something beautiful that she could enjoy for years to come.
As a designer, there are certain projects that stay with you—not simply because of how the room turned out, but because of the people behind them. This client believed in me during the early years of my business and gave me an opportunity to grow, create, and develop my own design voice.
It remains one of the most rewarding projects of my career, and I will always be grateful for the confidence she placed in me.
Great design is about so much more than creating a beautiful room. It is about creating something personal for the people who will live in it—and having clients who trust you enough to let that creativity come to life.

Before and After Buil-ins
This project began with a practical need—a larger, more current flat-panel Smart TV—but quickly became an opportunity to completely redesign the architecture of the built-ins.

The original 1980s built-ins, which came with the home, no longer worked for the scale the client needed. Rather than simply removing the top shelving and replacing with floating shelves as the client suggested. I wanted to create something that felt custom, elevated, and beautifully connected to the architecture already present throughout the home. The client was intrigued.

So I set out to design builtins that would inspire the existing architecture in the home and bring them into today with a timeless look for tomorrow. The arches create a sense of continuity, while the vertical scale brings a greater sense of grandeur and architectural presence to the room.
Finished in the same warm off-white tone, the entire composition feels cohesive and intentionally integrated.

The result is a refined, custom focal point that does more than accommodate a larger television. It elevates the entire room, provides beautiful space for display and styling, and gives the clients the functionality they wanted without compromising the character of their home.

The best design solutions are often the ones that feel inevitable—as though they were always meant to be there.
