It's still winter. Things are still dormant. Everything has a season. Cut dead branches. Trim stunted growth. Dying limbs and leaves will still try and hang on and pull energy while they are dying. And it's affects spring new growth later. Allow time for rest. There are periods where no matter how much you nurture, you wont see much progress. It's called a growing cycle. And this part of the cycle of rest and rebuilding is just as important and the spring and summer growth and production of flowers and fruit. Sometimes you even have to prune roots. During this dormant period, bacteria, fungus, insects, and things that harm the plant actually die off. Winter, the cold, the dark, it actually protects a lot of plants.
