Burger Buns

Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
Yield: 8 burger buns

Ingredients

* 3 1/2 cups (440g) all purpose flour
* 1 cup (240ml) warm milk
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
* 1 large egg
* 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
* 1 teaspoon salt

For Topping:

* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 tablespoon milk
* 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Directions

1. Activate the Yeast

* In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
* Let stand for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.

2. Make the Dough

* Add the egg, softened butter, and salt.
* Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
* Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

* Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl.
* Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the Buns

* Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
* Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
* Arrange on a parchment lined baking sheet, leaving space between each bun.

5. Second Rise

* Cover loosely and let rise for 30 minutes until puffy.

6. Add Topping

* Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
* Mix the beaten egg with the milk.
* Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash.
* Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.

7. Bake

* Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until deeply golden brown and shiny.
* Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.

Tips

* For extra soft buns, brush them lightly with melted butter while still warm.
* Weigh the dough portions to keep all buns the same size.
* These buns freeze well for up to 2 months.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

* 2 cups (250g) all purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* ½ cup (115g) cold butter, cubed
* ⅓ cup (80ml) cold water

For the Beef Filling:

* 1 pound (450g) ground beef
* 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
* 1 small onion, finely diced
* 3 green onions, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce
* 1 teaspoon sesame oil
* ½ teaspoon black pepper
* ½ teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon cornstarch

For Topping:

* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions

1. Make the Dough

* In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
* Add the cold butter and rub it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
* Gradually add cold water and mix until a dough forms.
* Wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling

* Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
* Cook onion until softened, about 3 minutes.
* Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
* Add ground beef and cook until browned.
* Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and cornstarch.
* Add green onions and cook for another minute.
* Remove from heat and allow the filling to cool completely.

3. Assemble the Pies

* Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
* Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface.
* Cut into 8 circles, about 5 to 6 inches wide.
* Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center of each circle.
* Fold over to form half moons and press the edges firmly with a fork.

4. Bake

Homemade Glazed Donuts

Ingredients:

For the donuts:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tsp salt
Oil for frying

For the glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Add the eggs, melted butter, and salt. Mix well, then gradually add the flour until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.

Roll the dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out donut shapes and place them on a lightly floured surface.

Cover and let the donuts rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.

Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts a few at a time until golden brown on both sides. Remove and place on a wire rack.

Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
