This week has been overwhelming, and I’m at my limit despite working hard to stabilize January and February. Here’s a brief overview:
1. Financial Strain:
Unexpected $650 expenses wiped out my funds, meant for surgery, food, a court appearance, electricity, and car issues. I had an agency that is giving me funds that was supposed to cover this but the staff decided to take an extended holiday and the payment was delayed. Disability doesn’t fully cover housing and food for my son and me.
2. Health Challenges:
I had to cancel my back surgery as I can’t afford the $75 sedation. Recent oral surgery and delays with food that meet our dietary needs further complicate things. Worsening pain due to the cold is making me less able to function and walk so I urgently need this surgery before I am fully bedridden.
3. Transportation Issues:
My car is blacklisted, preventing gig work and leaving me reliant on Uber and ADA CAP Metro, which I can no longer afford. A court date on the 21st is adding more stress because the funds I had to demonstrate a willingness to take responsibility in order to negotiate are gone. The chance of going to jail is minor, but I am a single mom and still absolutely terrified.
4. Food Insecurity:
My son’s specific dietary needs and my own mean most food pantry aid isn’t suitable. Issues with local agencies and pending paperwork have left us without food.
Food stamps are pending. Another agency that meets both our dietary needs is not an option at the moment due to prior traumatic experiences with a staff member. He requires I go through him for anything related to myself or my son but due to the trauma, I cannot even be in the same building as him without medical intervention. I am taking this to a higher position but it is taking time, leaving me without access to suitable food.
5. Work Efforts:
I am a graphic designer and teacher, selling paintings, greeting cards, and teaching materials online. I have a teachers pay teachers site where I sell workbooks and also have a site with my paintings. I also plan to teach art classes, but they won’t generate income until later.
I am actively seeking local contract or gig work and am building a Fiverr profile to offer my services. Until that is successful, I welcome newsletter, brochure, invitation, business card, social media and other desktop publishing related jobs.
What I Need:
- Financial assistance for immediate needs (surgery, transportation, electricity, court, food). Venmo and CashApp below.
- Help from a trained advocate volunteer to resolve my car’s blacklist issue so I can register my car. It is too hard for me to use ADA transport with the 24 hour in advance requirement. (VLS has already been contacted)
- Referrals for local remote desktop publishing or graphic design gig work. I am unable to so full time jobs or hourly schedules. (newsletters, brochures, social media posts, etc.).
- Help expediting my food bank delivery from Capitol Food Bank
- HEB or Walmart food cards or orders. I am fine with it only going to my son if anyone wants him to be priority. I have some protein shakes that at least temporarily work.
- Someone who may be able to expedite my pending Capitol Area food bank delivery application. I cannot eat all the food but maybe some of it will help.
- Uber Credit
If you can assist financially, I’d be deeply grateful. I am tired and exhausted.
My Venmo and CashApp are below.
