Warm woods, natural stone, rich leather, and a Southwestern-inspired palette give Odell Austin a distinctly local sense of place.

Here’s a quick glimpse at a project designed to feel layered, welcoming, and connected to its surroundings. We’re excited to share much more soon!

We’re excited to welcome two new faces to Britt Design Group: Amy Riley, ASID, NCIDQ, as Senior Designer, and Lily Garner as Designer I.

Amy brings more than 15 years of residential design experience and a collaborative approach rooted in strong relationships. Lily, a recent TCU graduate, brings a fresh perspective shaped by architecture, nature, travel, and a passion for thoughtful design.

We’re thrilled to have them both at BDG and look forward to the experience, curiosity, and creativity they bring to our residential work.

What will define the homes we design in 2026 and beyond? According to our founder, Laura Britt, it may be a move away from “trends” altogether.

In this month’s Builder.Media Magazine, Laura explores the shift toward homes that feel more personal, layered, and deeply connected to the people who inhabit them. From bolder material choices and meaningful art to wellness, nature, and spaces designed for both gathering and retreat, the common thread is a greater emphasis on how we want our homes to make us feel.

As Laura writes, “Residential design is becoming less about creating a perfect-looking house and more about creating a meaningful home.”

We’re proud to see her perspective featured in the September issue and grateful to Builder & Developer for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation about where residential design is headed.

Good design is rarely about the pieces themselves. It is about the relationship between them, where form, texture, scale, and contrast come together to create a thoughtful space that feels distinctly its own.

Playa Grande: Resort-Inspired Living in the Dominican Republic

Perched on a dramatic cliff within one of the Dominican Republic’s most exclusive private resort communities, this home enjoys sweeping views where the ocean meets the golf course.

The interiors take an intentionally understated approach, with a quiet palette, natural materials, and thoughtful details that complement the beauty of the surroundings instead of competing with it.

In collaboration with Austin-based artist Brandon Mike, custom lighting was thoughtfully designed to add warmth, texture, and sculptural interest while preserving the home's calm, effortless atmosphere.
