I just got back from a wonderful week teaching at Appalachian Center For Craft . I was so honored to be part of Educator’s week, where teachers in the state of TN have the opportunity to come to the craft center and focus on learning new skills, and building relationships with fellow teachers from throughout the state.
I presented a variety of techniques from screen printing on clay with various materials, making and using colored pastels, slip inlay, water etching, and glaze techniques using wax resist. Teaching fills my cup in a different way than my studio work. I feel inspired and energized as I’m getting back into my studio this week.
Thanks to Chris Koppi and Andy Foster for all your help and support in the studio, and to the Appalachian center for Craft staff who went above and beyond for me.
Thanks to Speedball Ceramics for donating supplies. Teachers in general but especially art teachers across the country have learned to be resourceful in the face of dwindling budgets. I have utmost respect for teachers especially those teaching children. If you’re able to help, I’m sure your local art teacher would appreciate supplies. Reach out and find out what they need. Or maybe you have some supplies you’ve finally admitted to yourself you’ll never use. Worth asking if your local school can use them.
