Small correction: gumbo, not jambalaya. Apparently I read the caterer’s name and made lunch decisions for them.

BlueRabbit Bakehouse and Roots Floral Preservation are teaming up to welcome Jambalaya and Meaux Catering this Saturday, October 17, serving gumbo from 10 AM–2 PM.

Pick up gumbo for your tailgate, feed the watch-party crowd, or let someone else handle lunch. Kirk and Carl will be playing music too.

An 11 AM kickoff means lunch needs a plan.

BlueRabbit Bakehouse and Roots Floral Preservation are teaming up to welcome Jambalaya and Meaux Catering this Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM–2 PM.

Pick up jambalaya for your tailgate, feed the watch-party crowd, or let someone else handle lunch. Kirk and Carl will be playing music as well.

Football is enough to supervise. Leave the cooking to them.

Our last Flower Pressing 101 workshop of 2026 was a success!

Eight flower pressers went home with their new presses full of roses, goldenrod, stock, delphinium, and even a few Louisiana natives!

More importantly, they left with the knowledge and tools to keep pressing flowers on their own. From garden blooms to roadside finds, we hope they’ll start noticing all the little things worth preserving.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We had such a great time sharing one of our favorite things with you, and we can’t wait to see what you create.

Tonight for The Bone Garden Terrarium Workshop we made tiny ecosystems, talked about the weird history of terrariums, learned how a closed terrarium basically makes its own little water cycle, and then everybody got to build their own.
They all turned out SO different, which is my favorite part of workshops like this. You can give everyone the exact same pile of plants, rocks and bones to choose from, and somehow every person ends up making something completely their own.

Also, I may now want the shop covered in branches, Spanish moss and candlelight year-round 😬

Thank you to everyone who came out and spent the evening playing in the dirt with us. The Bone Garden was such a fun one!

One place. Four artists. Four ways of seeing it. 🌿

Plein Wild is coming back for year TWO, and this time we’re taking it to Fontainebleau State Park!

LCS is joining Ellen Ogden of Elloartist, Madeline Ellis of Mimosa Handcrafted, and Ashley Ferguson of Roots Floral Preservation for a few days of art inspired by Louisiana's wild landscape.

We each notice something a little different out there, and we each preserve it through our own work. That’s what makes bringing all four of us together so special.

Come wander through it with us October 22–24 at Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville. The park becomes our gallery, and I can’t think of a better place for this work to live. 🤎

If you love jewelry that feels collected, a little unusual, and like it has a story behind it, you need to go see The Curio at MIMOSA Handcrafted.

My cousin Madeline started MIMOSA, and they just opened The Curio, a new part of the shop filled with curated pieces and jewelry from local makers that pairs so well with everything MIMOSA already does.

We got to see it for the first time last night and it is SO good. It’s moody and warm and comfortable and full of nature-inspired Louisiana treasures. I made multiple laps around the space and kept noticing another little detail I had missed the time before.

Madeline, Dawson, Andrew and the whole MIMOSA team did such an amazing job with this space.

Oh! And guess what…Roots gets to be part of it. 🥹

We sent over some of our resurrection fern rings and mushroom necklaces, and they styled them so beautifully that I literally looked into one of the cases and thought, “Dang, whose is this?”

It was mine. 😂

Seeing our jewelry in there felt like an absolute dream I didn’t even know I had.

So if you’ve been wanting to see some of our jewelry in person, or you just like poking around beautiful spaces full of interesting things, you can now find Roots inside The Curio at MIMOSA Handcrafted.

And seriously, go see the whole space. The pictures definitely don’t do it justice.
