Got out for a fun, fast 5K, and ended up with P2 overall, racing a tactical battle with a pretty awesome young runner, who let me stay close through the first half, but on the return, he made it clear he wasnt going to be run down by some old guy.
The absolute best part of the morning for me though was seeing all my kids crush their goals and have their best races of the year!
My Not Dead Threads | Running Apparel gear was perfect for tge Halloween vibe, and second place earned me a bag of books! How cool!!
Huge props to The Storykeepers for putting on such a fun, well run event!

Welp...that didnt quite work out like I planned. On the bright side, i got a ton of compliments on .y Not Dead Threads shirts! Aside from that, this one is gonna sting for a while. 11 mo the of planning and work came undone on loop 6, about 22 miles in, with some pretty severe calf cramps that made it impossible to get back to the starting corral in time.
While I'm proud of all the work I did this year, this is gonna take some time to recover from, mentally.
Spending some time today, stretching my legs and exploring the area.
Tomorrow will begin the 800 mile drive home, and maybe a chance to unravel what went wrong.
A huge thank you to everyone that plays a part in an effort like this! I got to share this trip with family, and enjoyed some great laps with my son, Chandler, while he experienced his first backyard. Of course, none of this is possible without the support of my wife, Amy Howard ! Shes at all the art shows, loading and unloading, and spent her vacation hanging around a bunch of runners in some strangers backyard!

Fall weather is here, and the moon and sunrises have been spectacular the last couple of Saturday mornings! I'm not starting any earlier...the sun is jist showing up a bit later, so the day starts with a sweatshirt for the 10K warm up. Followed that up with a really fun interval session. Lately, ive been picking a person to set the benchmark and run a distance. Today that was 300m x 5...everyone else runs as far as they can in that same amount of time. It truly is an interval, where we all start each interval together. It ended up being a blast of a workout and our pace setters today were super consistent!

One more shake out run before I head to Tennessee to race under the watchful gaze of one of the legends of ultras, Gary Cantrell, aka Lazurus Lake!, and take another shot at getting the backyard format right!

Fall is in the air, and the sun is definitely coming up a bit later, so my morning runs are great for capturing sunrises! Getting a few tune up runs in during my taper. Its hard toe believe, but its just two weeks until my "A" race for 2026, The Little Dog Backyard! Its been a solid year of training comes down to staying loose and getting my gear prepped!

Got out for another long run, then hit the track for a fun, throw back speed session...30, 20, 10.
30 seconds easy, 20 seconds medium, 10 swconda hard...repeat 5 times, with 2:30 rest in between. Set your distance on the first one, and try and match it for the next 4. Its a great workout!
