I had the honor of turning a loved one’s signature into matching keepsake necklaces for his family. They were chosen in lieu of flowers, giving each family member something meaningful to carry close to their heart.
As I get ready for the funeral this morning, the meaning behind this project is weighing heavily on my heart.
Having once been fortunate enough to call him my neighbor, I knew firsthand what a one-of-a-kind person he was. His quiet nod and familiar “How’s it going?” will be deeply missed throughout our little community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and his absence will be felt by so many.
Rest in peace, Steve. You will be greatly missed. 🤍

While Mabel is down and out, I decided to make the most of my morning and spend some time in the woodshop! 🎃🪚
I’m busy prepping pumpkins for the upcoming Pumpkin Painting Community Ed class in Renville—and I’d love to have you join us!

😭 Well… we’re starting the week with some pretty devastating news here at Cedar Roots.
Mabel is down. 💔
For those who don’t know, Mabel is my xTool M1 and one of the hardest-working gals in the shop. While Francine (our F1 Ultra) can handle a LOT of what Mabel does, Mabel is our primary cutting machine—and unfortunately, she has officially crashed.
That means for the time being, I’ll have to pause orders for our lake maps and larger name signs while we wait for a replacement part to arrive. 😭
The good news? Cedar Roots is NOT down! 🙌 Francine is still here and ready to work, and I can continue making and engraving the majority of our products as usual.
We’re crossing ALL the fingers that the replacement part gets Mabel back on her feet before those Christmas orders start rolling in. 🤞🎄
Until then, send some good thoughts to poor Mabel…and maybe to Francine too, because her workload just increased significantly. 😂

🐾 Every little girl has that puppy. The one who’s her shadow, her playmate, her snuggle buddy, and quite possibly her very best friend. 💕
That’s what makes engraving their pup’s name onto these little paw-print necklaces so sweet. A tiny reminder of a BIG love. 🐶🐾

Some pieces of the people we love deserve to be held onto forever. 🤍

My husband’s uncle recently passed away, and although we aren’t able to be there in person, we wanted his aunt to feel just how loved she is.
So we took a little piece of him—his handwriting—and preserved it on a necklace she can carry close to her heart, always.

Sometimes the smallest keepsakes hold the biggest pieces of someone we love. 🤍
