This is the world I live in. ✨
Well not in reality…. Yet. But it’s coming!
Most assuredly I strive to live like this in my head. It’s white… endlessly, glorious, striking, stunning, exquisite, elegant shades of white. In fact I’ve started a new instsgram account, Just A Shade of White. Please consider following me there.
This is my style.
This is my signature.
This is me.
This is what I love.
It’s fashion.
It’s interiors.
It’s who I am.
For weeks now I have heard tremendous backlash about Pantone’s newest color Cloud Dancer, a shade of white. Talk consisted of, it’s too boring, it’s blah, it’s bland, it’s weak. No people, no it’s not.
It’s subtle, it’s tranquil, it’s serene, it’s sophisticated, it’s ephemeral, it’s pristine! It’s beautiful!
Some of the most wonderful things in the world are shades of white…snow, The Whitehouse, the white in our Stars and Stripes, cake frosting, Embassy Row, Knightsbridge, brides, quintessential New England homes, soft Sandy beaches, roses, most of Mykonos.
For nearly four years I have been a caregiver. In both of those instances I lost the people I loved the most (apart from my kids) in what I wished was the crisp, clean white of hospice where my dad passed a decade ago. Neither was the case, my mom suffered a horrendous end of life (till we brought her home) as did my adored Mike in the sea of a dirty health care nightmare. A scenario I’ll never understand.
In the escape from the loss, the epic grief and the profoud sadness i experienced, my entire being, , body, mind and soul sought rest. And in so doing, i sought solace in the whitest~offwhitest~softest gray rooms in my home, my formal living riom and my bedroom.
They enveloped me in quiet repose, in simplicity, devoid of loud pattern and saturated color. It’s what I needed ~ it was my sustenance.
So please, let’s refrain from hating on the world of white, when for some of us, it quite literally was survival. Let’s look to the calm, pristine, safe , beautiful haven that it can be. White on white will forever be me!
