Prepping photos for the website - I had a recent commission request for an oversized platter. These can be a bit tricky when they are wheel thrown thinly. Platters can end up warped as they get larger & have a tendency to turn into a bowl shape 🥣. & This is why so many plates & platters are not thrown, but instead are made using a mold.
Given those challenges , I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. Perfect for serving a beautiful meal this summer, ((all platters are dishwasher and microwave safe)) - but also crafted to be displayed as an art piece.
To finish at this size, I start by throwing a form at around 18 inches - the platter shown measures just over 15 inches across.

Been a while - between my day job and as a father of a swimmer - my time in the studio has been a cut way back - but I'm still here and working on some new shapes & glaze combinations.
