Creating this space has given me an outlet this summer that I desperately needed in my life. As a nurse educator, I am lucky enough to be off during summer break. That means home with the kids, the pressure of maximizing productivity during this 3-month break, and finding a balance that feels like not too much but not too little.
Itās been fun to take this hobby and turn it into a profit. I tend to do thatā feel like I āruinā the joy of a hobby by creating this need to turn it into a job. But this has felt like the opposite of a ruined hobby. Itās given me a reason to do what I enjoy ā hunt down vintage and antique treasures and go thrifting ā while having a place to put the items, create a fun space, bring my vision to life, and squeal with every fun find I dig up out of the dusty corner of someoneās house during an estate sale.
From what I hear, the āJā months are the slowest in the antique booth world. Of course, my first two months have been June and July š¤£ but itās gone well and I donāt plan on closing down this booth anytime soon.
Iāll have to go back to regularly scheduled programming of working full time in less than a month, but thatās not going to stop me from continuing this new little creative corner in my life. In fact, I may need it this fall semester more than ever ā„ļø
