Crocheted is such a fun activity that even the rich and famous are doing it! I bet you didn’t know that Bette Davis was known for crocheting. Vanna White, Jane Seymour and even Cher enjoy crocheting too. A few other rich and famous crocheters are Kamala Harris, Meryl Streep, Debra Messing, Caroline Rhea, Eva Longoria, Aretha Franklin and Ketanji Brown Jackson. What other celebrities do you know crochet? Put it in the comments 👇🏻

Christmas is fast approaching! Anybody finish their Christmas shopping? I found this cute pattern by and created some cute mini stocking out of them with some Christmas yarn that I didn't know what to do with! I love these because they are so versatile! talks about how you can string them together to make a garland, use them as an ornament, turn them into a keychain, use them as an advent calendar and add small gifts inside to give to someone. What would you fill yours with?

Did you know that crochet was a life saver for many in Ireland? It saved many lives and possibly their economy during the potato famine between 1845-1850. Many people died of starvation during those dark times so people, mostly those in poverty, learned how to do Irish crochet so that they could make money to provide for themselves. They were also able to use the money to emigrate abroad. Irish crochet looks like lace and is still practiced today.

This sun is an example of amigurumi which is a Japanese art form. Ami means “crocheted or knitted” and niugurumi means “stuffed doll”. You have probably seen these at local craft markets, Etsy or maybe your friend or family makes these cute “plushies”.

I have seen amigurumi flowers, food, animals, dolls, plants and the list goes on and on. They also come in different sizes and with different yarns that are soft, thick or thin. There are crochet artists that also do mini or micro crochet amigurumi and turn them into jewelry. Amazing right?!

What is your favorite amigurumi sighting? I would love to see pictures down below 👇🏻

Before physical therapy, making anything amigurumi hurt my hands too much. But now that I have completed treatment, I am happy to say that I can make amigurumi things! 🎉

I wanted to find a cute sun pattern because I felt inspired by who is such a great example to me of being the light and sharing the light with others.

I found this cute pattern by and crocheted it and look at how cute this is! Doesn’t it bring a smile to your face?

How have you brightened up someone else’s day today? I would love to hear all about it 🫶🏻

Fascinating isn’t it? These crocheted dolls are believed to have been from China’s Shang Dynasty which is from 1600-1064 B.C.E. It is believed that the crocheting of dolls crossed over to Japan from 1603-1868 C.E., and that is where Amigurumi was born. Amigurumi is a type of crochet of making small crocheted dolls. Amigurumi is very popular right now in the crochet world and to those who love collecting them.

I handmade these using .crochet PNW beanie pattern for the beanie. I used those same stitches and combined it with beginner bulky mittens pattern so that they matched the PNW beanie.

I love the yarn and the look of this pattern. I think I might make another beanie with this pattern. Anybody else wearing beanies already? I sure am 😉

Crochet is said to been developed from an ancient Chinese needlework by some historians and researchers.

Over time, and once it got to Europe, it seems to have evolved into Tambour embroidery which resembles needlework and embroidery but with crochet stitches. Interesting, right?

Tambour is a French word which means drum. Tambour embroidery was popular in the 1700s and then over time, people started doing crochet “in the air”with the tambour hook in the late 18th century.

And this is how we do it now right? We crochet “in the air” and it is fun to see all the wonderful things crocheters create from a hook and some yarn.
