Hey guys
St. Patrick’s Day weekend is upon us! So we hope to see you guys today from 11-7PM at Penguin City Brewery we will be a vendor at the Shave Youngstown event, presented by Ashlin’s Alliance.
So for those of you who don’t know, these guys have been working with St. Baldrick’s for several years now which is an international organization that funds research in the field of childhood cancer. The way it works is volunteers are accepting donations to shave their heads and beard (or whatever they’ve got within the bounds of good taste
) as a sign of solidarity with those going through treatment who end up losing their hair. Each shavee has been collecting donations and this year the teams goal is $91,700, last year I believe they managed to raise over $66,000 and were recognized as one of the top events in the country. So on March 14th at Penguin City these folks will be having their heads shaved and among the guest barbers will be several childhood cancer survivors.
So this is a free event, very family friendly, there will be a basket raffle, 50/50, a booze buggy raffle (
no idea but it sounds fun), there’ll be slides, an obstacle course and Pie in the Eye (
sounds less fun than the booze, maybe bring your safety goggles). Again the event runs from 11-7 but do feel free to stick around afterwards as the bar will definitely still be open. So please make a point to come on out, volunteer, make a donation, have some fun, and show some support for our local kids and their families who are going through a really tough time.
