I don't use plaster for my figurine molds — and once you see why, you probably won't either. 🐰
Plaster is chalky, chips easily, and takes forever to dry. I switched to ecoresin a while back and it's changed how I make these.
If you've got a crafty kid — or you're the crafty one in the house — this is such a satisfying project to try together. I've got beginner kits if you want to start without guessing at supplies.

What do you currently use for your molds — plaster, resin, something else? Curious what everyone's go-to is.

These are the three questions that show up in my inbox the most, so I figured I'd answer them all in one place.

1. Where do I get my molds? I use silicone molds from a few different suppliers — I've tested a lot over time, and good quality molds make a big difference in getting clean edges and consistent results. Most come from Amazon US, and I recently started making my own too.

2. What material do I use? I do NOT use plaster of Paris — I use eco resin. It's water based, captures fine details really well, and gives me the smooth matte finish I love for my paint kits and decor.

3. How are they so white and smooth? A few things help, but the biggest one is using a high quality eco resin — it's white from the start and has a naturally smooth surface. A few extra tricks keep it bubble-free and sanding-free too.
