Unpopular opinion: your TV wall does not need a fireplace.

Fireplaces are beautiful, and they can absolutely create a cozy focal point. But they are not always the right solution for every home, every climate, or every lifestyle.

Over the last few years, fireplaces became one of those features everyone wanted. Suddenly, every living room seemed to need a fireplace wall, built-ins on each side, and a TV mounted above it.

And while that can be beautiful when it makes sense, I also think it became one of those design decisions people started making because it felt like the thing to do.

I say this as someone who added one in my own home đŸ«Ł

Living in Florida, we use it maybe once or twice a year. So in many homes, especially here, I think it is worth asking: do we really need this?

Sometimes the answer is yes. But sometimes the better design choice is a thoughtfully planned media wall with custom storage, layered materials, beautiful styling, and room for pieces that actually reflect the people who live there.

A TV wall does not have to feel like a compromise.

It can be functional, beautiful, intentional, and just as elevated as any other focal point in the home.

The goal is not to force a feature because it is popular.

The goal is to design a room that supports the way you live and feels beautiful every day.

To the mothers and the women who step into that role with love, intention, and quiet strength
 this is for you.

The ones who build, nurture, lead, and hold it all together, often without recognition, but never without purpose. Your impact reaches further than you see, shaping homes, hearts, and generations.

Today we honor you, not just for what you do, but for who you are.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌾

Modern Mediterranean, reimagined.

Rooted in tradition, softened with nature, and refined through a more modern lens.

It’s hard to fully explain this one
 but you can feel it.
Warm, grounded, and quietly elevated.

Every layer is intentional. Every material chosen to bring a sense of calm, function, and ease.

This is what happens when you take everything a client is drawn to and translate it into something that truly feels like home.

What part of this palette speaks to you the most?

My greatest inspiration will always be my clients.

I listen closely. I read between the lines. I pay attention to every conversation, every detail, every hesitation.

While Pinterest can be a great place to gather ideas, it’s truly understanding my clients that allows me to shape a clear vision for their home.

From there, it’s about translating what they say they want, what they’re drawn to, and what I know will serve them best into thoughtful designs, visuals, and construction documents that bring everything to life.

I don’t define myself by a specific style. My clients’ style becomes the foundation. I simply refine it and bring it together in a way that feels complete.

That’s the part I love most. The balance of problem solving, creativity, psychology, strategy
and ultimately, creating a home that feels right for them đŸ€©

It’s laundry day!
And if you’re like me, it all piles up until the end of the week đŸ«

3 kids, 3 hampers, and no mixing allowed. Not for organization
just so I don’t have to play detective with socks đŸ€Ș

Not everyone has a laundry room the size of a kitchen, so making the most of your space matters. But also, if you’re going to spend time in here every week, it might as well feel a little more fun and a lot more functional.

I loved adding these self-storing pull-out rods for air drying your favorite pieces. One of those small details that makes a big difference.

If your laundry room is tight, underwhelming, or just not working for you, let’s fix it.

This is Part 3 and the final look at our Mandalay Modern project.

If you saw the kitchen and living room, this is where it all slows down.

This primary suite is a good example of how far thoughtful design can go without overcomplicating things.

In the bedroom, we did minimal work but with big impact. We refreshed the paint, removed dated trim and crown, and color drenched the entire room to create a more cohesive and calming feel. From there, it was all about the furnishings. Warmer tones, better scale, layered textures, and lighting that actually elevates the space. It feels simple, but every selection was intentional to make the room feel like a true retreat.

The bathroom was a different story and required a full renovation. We widened the shower to make it more functional, selected all new floor and wall tile, custom vanities, LED mirrors, minimalist flush mount lighting, and elevated hardware. Everything ties back to the bedroom so the entire primary suite feels connected, modern, and timeless.

This is usually how these projects go. Some spaces need a full renovation, others just need the right plan and the right pieces to bring it together.

If you’ve been following along, which space was your favorite from this project?

It’s been one year since we installed this project, and it still feels just as fresh.

Maybe it’s the layers of green, the natural materials, or the quiet mix of textures and tones. It all comes together in a way that feels effortless, calm, and perfectly in step with spring.

Swipe to see where we started. The before tells the real story.

My clients had already moved in and brought in some furniture, but the space felt unfinished. Not because they didn’t have great taste, but because creating a cohesive, elevated home takes time, intention, and hundreds of decisions most people don’t have the bandwidth for.

That’s where I came in.

Now we’re working together again, bringing their modern Mediterranean vision to life in their custom home on Davis Island, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s next.

If you have a space that needs to be reimagined or a brand new home that still feels empty, message me to set up a call to go over how I can help you finish it up with my Styling & Furnishings service.

Tell me, which room is your favorite?

Let’s talk about what a kitchen renovation really costs.

I labeled the real costs behind this kitchen from our Mandalay Modern project so you can get an idea of where the investment actually goes.

What you’re looking at is a mid-range kitchen in terms of materials and selections. And even then, this is still a simplified version.

For example, when I say “appliance package,” that’s not just one decision.
That includes a counter-depth refrigerator, panel-ready dishwasher, high-performing range, vent hood, built-in microwave, and a beverage center/wine fridge.

Same with plumbing. It’s not just a sink. It’s the sink, faucet, drain, disposal, and all the small details that make it function well day to day.

A lot of items are grouped together here, but in reality every single piece is its own decision, its own lead time, its own coordination.

And this doesn’t even include construction labor or design fees which can easily add another $30,000 to $50,000+.

What you don’t see is the 100+ hours behind it.
Designing a kitchen that actually looks good.
The 3D renderings to ensure you like it before it’s built.
Selecting finishes that feel cohesive.
Sourcing, pricing, and tracking every item.
Creating drawings so it’s built correctly.
Coordinating with contractors.
Solving problems before they happen and sometimes while they’re happening.

That’s the part no one really talks about.

A kitchen renovation isn’t for everyone. It’s a big commitment in time, money, and decision making.

But I do think everyone deserves a space that feels good to live in. A kitchen where you actually want to cook, gather, and slow down a bit.

Curious
 did these numbers surprise you?

Exactly one year ago, something happened that changed the direction of my life.

At the time, I thought I was exactly where I was supposed to be. A career I had built for years, people I enjoyed working with, and a future that felt clear.

But looking back now, I can see God was already working long before that moment ever came. There were things shifting in my heart that I didn’t fully understand at the time.

I spent some time recently sitting down and writing it all out. What happened, what led up to it, and how I can now see His hand in all of it.

It’s a part of my story I haven’t really shared like this before.

If you want me to send it to you, comment STORY and I’ll share it đŸ€

We work. We build. We chase goals. We create businesses.

But if it doesn’t lead back to a home filled with laughter, peace, rest, connection
 what’s the point?

This week, shared an edited quote from C.S. Lewis that stopped me in my tracks:

“To be happy at home is the end of all human endeavor. The sun looks down on nothing half so good as a household laughing together over a meal, or two friends talking over a pint of beer, or a person alone reading a book that interests them; and all economics, politics, laws, armies, and institutions, are only valuable in so far as they prolong and multiply such scenes.”
— The Weight of Glory (edited lightly for clarity)

Read that again.

Everything we build only matters if it protects and multiplies those scenes.

As an interior designer, I don’t believe beautiful spaces are the goal. They’re the support system.

Interior design won’t create joy on its own.
But it can remove friction.
It can create calm.
It can support connection.
It can make being home feel good.

And that feels like something worth building.

This is right in line with the book I finished this month, Garden City: Work, Rest, and the Art of Being Human by John Mark Comer. I’ll be sharing my takeaways in stories soon.
