Let’s take a second and talk about the state of the video game industry.
Microsoft’s Xbox has not changed the specs of their Xbox Series X/S models; however, have elevated their prices to adjust for “tariffs.” They have offered a subscription service that was affordable… 2 years ago. They have just announced that their top tier subscription service will now be a $29.99 per month value. But hey you now get 1000 V-Bucks every month for everyone that is into Fortnite😉. This means that you will be spending close to half the cost of a AAA game every month. Casual gamers just be cautious.
PlayStation has attempted to keep the prices relatively similar to their original release prices. Good for them, but examine the picture of the PS5s. To cut costs, PlayStation has decided to remove 17.5% of the storage space available in the PS5 Slim models. If you have a PS5 already disregard these comments. These changes do not affect you even in the slightest😁.
These changes have hit the video game community pretty hard. Console gaming has always been a route to play your favorite games at an affordable price, but in today’s market it’s almost becoming more reasonable to either build or buy your own gaming computer.
Pros of owning a PC:
1.) No need to worry about backwards compatibility
2.) Multiple games stores to purchase your games from
3.) Upgradable, old parts become obsolete you can just plug an play with new hardware
4.) Doesn’t just need to be for gaming. Since Windows will be installed you can use it as a normal computer or workstation
5.) Pretty much any controller is compatible or keyboard and mouse is an option
6.) Lack of storage is never a problem. Low on space add in another storage device
7.) Customization is limitless, people will literally
build a room to match the aesthetics of their PC
8.) Online gaming is FREE!!!
Cons of owning a PC:
1.) Higher upfront cost. Entry level PC is more costly, but not much more than the current cost of console hardware
2.) First party games from developers like PlayStation and Xbox take longer to release on game stores like Steam
3.) Typically take up more space
4.) Do require more maintenance, especially with water cooled systems
Ultimately, the option is your choice in the end. Renegade M.O. appreciates both consoles and PCs and uses each for specific purposes. Should you be interested in taking on a PC for yourself, or have more questions about them comment below.
