JG Creations LLC is a veteran owned/operated business in Brooklyn, CT specializing in laser engraving, industrial part marking, awards, business branding and personalized gifts. Our journey started in the garage with a hobby laser, creating custom wooden objects as a pastime. What began as a personal venture quickly grew, as friends and family began requesting engraved items—and soon, the demand e

xtended beyond our inner circle. In the spring of 2020, we upgraded to an industrial 80-watt CO2 laser and officially launched JG Creations as a side business, while balancing a full-time teaching role at the local community college. Over time, we expanded our capabilities with the addition of two more industrial lasers—a fiber and a UV laser—allowing us to cater to diverse engraving needs with unmatched quality. In early 2023, we took a leap of faith to focus entirely on growing JG Creations. This decision not only marked a new chapter for our business but also provided a unique opportunity to spend quality time with our boys, while fostering a family-oriented lifestyle. Outside the shop, we are deeply involved in Scouting America, with roles such as Scoutmaster and Treasurer for the local troop, as well as supporting our sons at soccer games and band concerts. This flexibility is central to our values, allowing us to harmonize work and family life. Our family collaborates across all aspects of the business—from social media, loading/unloading the machines, cleaning, assembling, and packaging—making every project a shared experience. We are passionate about crafting exceptional, high-quality items that stand the test of time. Whether it's a custom retirement gift or a bulk order of engraved cups showcasing your business logo, we take pride in delivering meaningful creations tailored to your needs. ☀️Thursday morning in the shop… and no, we haven’t been sleeping over here.

We took a little time away over Memorial Day weekend for something that always comes first — family time. Now it’s back to the grind.

The beginning of this week was packed with coaches gifts, awards, plaques, and end-of-season projects. This time of year always gets busy, and we’re grateful for every order that comes through the shop.

Yesterday turned into a full shop teardown and reorganization day. I honestly wish I had taken a picture when the place was at peak chaos. 🤣 Equipment pulled out, benches moved around, tools everywhere… but sometimes you have to make a mess to improve the workflow.

I spent the day building a new workbench setup to help streamline production and make better use of the space we have. When you run a small home-based shop, every inch matters. You learn real quick how to get creative with layout, storage, and workflow efficiency.

And if you notice that big empty space in the photo… stay tuned. 👀
That deserves its own post.

Someday JG Creations will have a larger dedicated workspace with room for every machine, woodworking, assembly, and all the “dirty work” separated out properly. But today isn’t that day — and honestly, that’s okay. We’ll keep building, improving, adapting, and doing what we do best: creating unforgettable custom pieces for our customers.

Happy Friday from the shop! ☀️

The sun is finally shining, the temperatures are climbing, and we’re definitely ready for the weekend around here. Before jumping fully into weekend mode though, I spent some time in the shop continuing to fine tune one of the most challenging things we do — photo engraving.

Most people see the final engraved photo and think it’s as simple as pressing a button. In reality, creating a high-quality engraved photo is a process of calibration, testing, adjustments, and a whole lot of patience.

The photos in this post are part of that process.

Over the last few days, I’ve been testing and comparing results between both our CO2 laser and UV laser systems, working to achieve the same high-quality final result across both machines. While both are lasers, they behave very differently depending on the material, settings, and even the photo itself.

Every material reacts differently, which means countless tests adjusting:
• Speed
• Power
• Frequency
• DPI / line interval
• Focus
• Pulse settings

Even the quality of the original photo plays a huge role in the final result.

One of the toughest materials to perfect is black granite — but also one of the most rewarding because of how meaningful those pieces often become. My goal is always to create engravings that feel less like something “laser engraved” and more like an actual photograph permanently captured in the material.

A lot of work happens behind the scenes before a finished piece ever reaches a customer, but that attention to detail is what helps turn special photos into lasting keepsakes and memorial pieces.

⚠️ WARNING: The shop may currently be experiencing dangerously high levels of pink. ⚠️😂

This morning’s project is a batch of these obnoxiously pink 30oz Polar Camel tumblers heading out to one of our favorite local businesses. And honestly… Aimee approves. 💗

In a house full of boys, she always says there has to be something pink around here. I guess today she wins. 😆

These tumblers are getting custom engraved with the customer’s branding and will soon be hitting the shelves ready for sale.

This morning started early with coffee, lasers warming up, and the 3D printer running while I fine tune settings for a new material — PETG with carbon fiber(it's a pain in the butt!). Definitely a little more challenging than standard PLA, but the goal is stronger, more durable custom jigs and even a custom upgrade part for one of the lasers.

Always testing, tweaking, and trying to improve the process behind the scenes.

Behind every finished product is a lot of calibration, problem solving, and early mornings — but honestly, that’s part of what we enjoy most.
