Installation is now underway at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.

After months of design, folding, engineering, and preparation, our team is now turning the vision into reality — carefully positioning and suspending thousands of hand-folded doves and cardinals throughout the Sanctuary.

There is still a lot of work ahead, and this is not the finished installation yet. But everything is progressing well, and with each day, the flocks are beginning to take shape.

It has been especially exciting to watch the space transform — from an empty Sanctuary, to the rigging and net system, to hundreds of individual birds gradually taking flight above the congregation.

More to come as we continue the installation in Texas.

Still a work in progress. But SOAR is beginning to fly.

✨ SOAR is taking shape in Plano, Texas!🕊️

After months of preparation, our team is now on site at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas, bringing our latest large-scale origami installation, “SOAR,” to life.

Created in celebration of St. Andrew’s 40th anniversary, SOAR features more than 2,400 hand-folded origami birds installed across three different spaces within the church.

From designing the installation and folding thousands of birds in Brooklyn to transporting everything to Texas, this has been a major project for our team — and we’re excited to finally see it coming together on site.

The project was also recently featured in Plano Magazine, a local publication covering the Plano, Texas community. Thank you to Plano Magazine for sharing the story behind SOAR!

We’re not revealing the finished installation just yet, but we’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes moments as the installation progresses.

Taro Yaguchi, founder of Taro’s Origami Studio, presented a Giant Origami Performance in Japan 🇯🇵✨

The event took place on July 19, at Ario Nishiarai, a major shopping mall in Tokyo, in collaboration with TOYO, one of Japan’s leading origami paper manufacturers.

Giant Origami is a unique form of live performance that Taro Yaguchi has explored and developed over many years. Using his entire body, he transforms a single giant sheet of paper, allowing the audience to experience the creative process as the artwork takes shape before their eyes.

This time, Taro folded a giant dinosaur from a single sheet of paper 🦕
The dynamic transformation captivated audiences of all ages, from children to adults.
