The Hungry Housewives

The Hungry Housewives The Hungry Housewives host an annual craft and vendor show every October (see below for more info). We would "do lunch" and exchange bulk frozen meals.

🍉 Simple food 🌈Ally 🚫🧊 When that is not happening, this page is all about simple food, movies/books, tips, restaurants we've been to, life in a four generation household in an 1898 Victorian, and other random things. I am a volunteer in our Buc

kley, WA community running events such as our town's Merry & Bright decor contest over at www.facebook.com/MerryAndBrightBuckley and by being a Board Member for our local Chamber of Commerce. My family shares our love for Halloween/Christmas at www.facebook.com/VintageSmallTownCharmer that up until Covid, was our shared house Airbnb.

My name is Alisa, and I started The Hungry Housewives in 2004 when a few moms were looking for friendship, and LOVED to eat. Well versed in volunteering as PTA moms, we decided to give back to the community. We started "Crop Out Cancer" events which consisted of raising funds for cancer research by hosting all day scrapbooking events, then we did Fashion Shows, Buncos, charity fun runs, and I even ran our town's Relay For Life event! As our kids got older, a few of us decided to sell at the Funky Junk Show with the Junk Salvation Sisters (now Rebel Junk Markets in Idaho). We upcycled furniture and handpicked unique decor that we sold for a little bit of "fun" money, while still featuring a charity or volunteering for fundraisers. In 2012, we decided to sell our items at our very own local craft fair. As our kids got older, us moms didn't see each other as often, and eventually it was just my family running the Craft & Vendor Show. We've hosted every year, with the exception of during covid. It's fun seeing some of the "original housewives" pop in to shop, or even have their own booth at the event! At these Craft and Vendor Shows, we feature a charity and donate the proceeds from our Raffle Door Prize. This is a HUGE table of items, and the winner takes ALL! Tickets are $5 each and additional donations are welcome, too. Our aim is to always do $1k+

In the past, we have donated to these causes:

* 2012: Tourette Syndrome Research - in honor of one of the Housewives whose son had the condition
* 2013: Helping Dylan Takedown Cancer - local school friend fighting Leukemia
* 2014: Mobile Mom & Me Clinic - promoting wellness by providing access to high/quality basic and preventative medical care at no charge to the under and non insured citizens
* 2015: Buckley Fire Fighters - during an exceptionally tough fire season which stretched the budgets, we helped our local station by donating bike helmets for them to give out to kids.
* 2016: Dylan Parkinson- local finder of lost animals who rehomes pets and relocates ferals
* 2017: The Soup Ladies - organization who feeds first responders
* 2018: Merry & Main - helping make the town of Buckley merry for everybody coming through town (As of 2023, I now run this event through Merry & Bright).
* 2019: Jordan Binion Project - education and assistance about mental health for young adults
* 2023: Buckley Food Bank- assisting our community by meeting basic needs.
* 2024: Friends of the Buckley Library- a group whose vision is to strengthen literacy and build an equitable, knowledgeable, engaged, and empowered community by serving our libraries. Another reason our annual show is AMAZING is our vendors donate fun items to hand out goodie bags for our FIRST 40 shoppers (18+, one per family). We also give out a 4+ page shopping brochure featuring our 115+ vendors, with some of them having special "ads". After you've had all those vendors "sign off" on your brochure, take it to the front table, and you'll get a FREE RAFFLE TICKET! For our shows, it's not JUST about sales that day, but having success years down the road for these small businesses. We share tips/techniques, offer advice, help create social media pages, and encourage them to have ways to make the shopper’s experience easier, and so that they can find them for future shopping. One of my FAVORITE things is when we have a brand-new vendor, who goes on to sell items in shops, create art for companies, or open their own store, as was featured in Enumclaw's Courier Herald paper feature about us. KEEP your brochure from the event, so you can find your favorite creators all year long! Late summer we'll start sharing about our event, with the show being held mid-October. We have authors, artists, tumblers, clothing, jewelry, handmade baskets, natural skin care products, kid items, and more, plus local businesses who can help you ditch the bra, or learn how to organize your home. There's something for everyone at our shows, so come alone, or grab all your friends, because you deserve a day for yourself!

Follow along on this journey with my friend Wood Signs on Main! She is not only AMAZING, but is one of our helpers for The Hungry Housewives 12th Annual Craft & Vendor Show which is happening Oct 10th.

FRIENDS!!! WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!! 😍🤎

I can’t even tell you how exciting it is walking into this space! Things are REALLY starting to come together!

The shelves are up, the paint is on the wall, the computers are in place, the cutter is ready, the tools are getting organized and now we’re getting ready to bring in all the pretty decor. 🥹

It’s crazy looking back at where we started and seeing what this space is becoming. There’s still a few things to finish up, but friends… WE ARE SO CLOSE! 🙌🏼

I’m getting SO excited to finally have a space to create, work and dream up all the things for Wood Signs on Main. ❤️

Thank you for cheering us on through this whole process! So excited to see it all come together!

We had to brave "the storm" to pick up the cutest piece of furniture (swipe to end!), and that drive was chaotic 🌧️🌦️☀️
I have never been so blinded, for so many miles, by pouring rain and bright sunshine... surprised we made it home safely.
🌈 Wish I could have captured how amazing that rainbow was in person though!
But it was worth it! Not only for the furniture, but for a little spontaneous dinner date ♥️ Thanks Dave for going, and Uncles for watching the grand-kiddo!

We’re very sad to share that one of our longtime vendors, Aimee Barnard Wood of Roaming the range passed away from cancer earlier this year.
Aimee was a genuinely kind person, and we were lucky to have her be part of our events. We’ll miss seeing her each year, and our hearts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her.
We’re grateful that Aimee and Roaming the Range will always be part of the history of our little show. ❤️
If you would like to make a donation on Aimee's behalf, she was a staunch supporter of the Susan G Komen organization: https://www.komen.org

Getting my oil change under duress, because I do not want to be a grown up.
Looked up what I was supposed to specifically ask for, what my car didn't need, got a coupon, etc, so came in all confident 🥇...
Only to be asked to turn on my headlights, but since it was a direct question, I couldn't remember how to turn the lights on in my car 😵
Normally I would say I could never step foot in this place again, but Mateo and Kimberly were super nice!

Dropped our grandbaby off for his first day of kindergarten! 😭
We are struggling with having him gone all day long, so it was nice my hubby took some time off to commiserate with me ❤️
Huge thanks to Main Street Bistro at 754 Main St. Buckley for not only having yummy drinks, but also super delicious sandwiches! A great lunch was the perfect distraction 🥪 ❤️
